Last night, I saw God
I picked Him up at eight o’clock
We stopped to get some gas, and I asked him to stop the world because I wanted off
We took a walk down 23rd street, breathing in the scene
We didn’t say a single word
Then, my bloody, swollen tongue deflated as I shouted about how all His silence made no sense to me – it made me feel left out
And all He did was smile with a camouflaged sensation, then closed his eyes and whispered silently,
“You’ll know what it means to live when you fall down.
You’ll see the mystery aint that hard when you find out yourself
In order to breathe, you’ve got to let it out – you’ve got to learn to dream.”
Step off the world, waving goodbye, and crash down on your own and get up – this is how I believe.

Last night, I saw my friends
They were brining back the good times – just kickin’ it
And I stepped through the door and heard her laughing resolutely, awarding someone random of a clever joke
I swore that I’d give anything to be the one to crack a little smile so I could see her smile
I took one step closer to reach her in the other room, a million miles away
But my plan to say “hello” fell through
These words, I hope to overcome and tell her that this silence between us is real – I swear this is real!

But then she looked at her watch
Saw my glancing glare at twelve o’clock
I quickly froze, my blood cells raced as she look up
And I heard her eyes whisper, “Please do not give up on me!
Now, listen to me,” she said, “Just trust me – take a deep breath, ‘cause you look kind of funny.”
“Well, yeah!” I said, “I’ve got a foot stuck in the door, and other one won’t budge one foot more.
I’d pay in prayers if you’d just talk to me – help me live a dream life, baby – one, two, three, four
Five days a week – all the time – on the streets, in my sleep, never leaving my mindful
State of obsession, I’m sick of always guessing if you’re there and I’m here – if there is a connection
Binding us with a fortune love, warranting me to come up front
And scream, “I don’t believe! Where’s all the proof that you really love me!?”
“I’ll give it to you,” she said, “if you promise to do what I say… ok – breathe deep:
The only way to feel what’s real about me is believing in a feeling you can’t see, you can’t hear
You can’t understand ‘til you go first, but then I swear I’ll quench your thirst.
I’ll turn around and bite your ear with a small side-comment that nobody else hears
I will love you always and evermore, finally this feeling can become so much more
Let’s run away ‘cause I am free
Let’s run away ‘cause I am free
Let’s run away

You’ll know what it means to live when you fall down
You’ll see the mystery aint that hard when you find out yourself
In order to breathe, you’ve got to let it out, you’ve got to learn to dream
Step off the world, waving goodbye, crash down on your own and get up – this is how I believe

I’m a guy, and you are God – don’t stop the world ‘cause I want off
Things are changing in this place, now I know how to see your face
So much more, my life was a horrid state of mind
I never got the girls, didn’t get the cash, didn’t get the luxury
Of feeling love, strength, courage – all those things that make a person want to
Live to see the end of everything that they’ve created
And I don’t see the point in wondering why you might not love me.
So, kiss me now, softly, because now – I believe!
