"Probably Wouldn't Be This Way" as written by John Davis Kennedy and Tammi Lynn Kidd....
Got a date a week from Friday with a preacher's son
Everybody says he's crazy; I'll have to see

I finally moved to Jackson when the summer came
I won't have to pay that boy to rake my leaves

I'm probably going on and on
It seems I'm doing more of that these days

I probably wouldn't be this way
I probably wouldn't hurt so bad
I never pictured every minute without you in it
Oh, you left so fast
Sometimes I see you standing there
Sometimes it's like I'm losing touch
Sometimes I feel that I'm so lucky to have had the chance to love this much
God gave me a moment's grace
'Cause if I never see your face
I probably wouldn't be this way

Mama says that I just shouldn't speak to you
Susan says that I should just move on

You ought to see the way these people look at me
When they see me 'round here talking to this stone

Everybody thinks I've lost my mind
But I just take it day by day

I probably wouldn't be this way
I probably wouldn't hurt so bad
I never pictured every minute without you in it
Oh, you left so fast
Sometimes I see you standing there
Sometimes I feel an angel's touch
Sometimes I feel that I'm so lucky to have had the chance to love this much
God gave me a moment's grace
'Cause if I never see your face
I probably wouldn't be this way

I probably wouldn't be this way

Got a date a week from Friday with a preacher's son
Everybody says I'm crazy
Guess I'll have to see

General CommentI was a very skeptical fan of the arrogant Leann Rimes until I heard this song. It's simple lyrics are so meaningful that it's almost impossible for one not to accept this song. It's very disheartening for her to do this type of melancholy song. It seems that it's about her finding essence to captivate and motivate the person whom she is singing about to move on from the death of her husband.(I say husband because in the video it shows her wedding band in a close-up shot). Anyway, i'm rambling on and on so i'm going to close this for now. What does anyone think?

General CommentArrogant? She is far from arrogant. You can go to a concert and tell that she is a very down to earth and elogant lady. Especially since shes been a millionaire since the age of 13. Anyway, great song. One of my favorites from this last album.

General CommentWhen sumonomen said they thought it was about the death of her husband, I disagreed at first. I kinda thought it was more about her husband leaving her, rather than dying. The more I listen to the song though, I think it is about not being able to move on after losing a spouse. Everyone thinks she's crazy for not being able to get over his death. The line that says, "momma says that I just shouldn't talk to you." confused me at first, and made me think it was about a relationship dying. But the line that says something about her talking to "this stone" makes me think it's his grave, and she's been talking to it, because it's the closest thing to talking to him himself. Nice song, makes me kinda sad though.

General CommentDefinitely about the death of her husband. The whole "stone" reference makes this obvious. I like this song a lot - and I haven't liked much of LeAnn for quite a while, but hopefully she starts singing from the heart again.

General CommentAbsolutely love this so ng. I agree, I think that it is losing someone close to you, and everyone thinks that you have lost your mind because you are depressed but inside you know that you are only trying to cope with the loss. Very good ong.

General CommentI also think that she could be talking about a grave instead of a "stone" in general.

General Commentat firts i thought that the song was about her dead husband... with the "stone" reference. but then it occured to me...... sometimes people refer to diamonds as stones. and she says in the song "you left so fast" and "mama says that i just shouldnt speak to you"................ so now im torn between 2 different meanings of this song

General CommentIn my personal opinion I agree that is is about death. I think it could be a young girl in love, with plans to marry ... possibly a soldier ... but its as if she never got a chance to live out her dreams ( i get soldier because of the green army shirts and jackets in the video) It's like she said but appreciative at the same time ... cause god gave her a moments grace ... cause if she had not met this great man ... she never would have felt this sad ... or she also never would have had a chance to love someone so much that it hurts. Any one see where I'm going with this ?
