I wake up each morning
Go to work at eight
Come home for dinner
It's time to celebrate
So I round up my friends
We made it through another week
We may not have much
But we've got what we need
So we go all night
Until I see his face
Then the party's over
This drink has no taste
He makes me lonely
When he comes around
I tried for years to beat this one down
I've got all my friends
Couldn't ask for more
But he makes me lonely
When he knocks on my door

General Commentabout being haunted. poignantly summed up in the last bit:

"I tried for years to beat this one down
    I've got all my friends
    couldn't ask for more
    but he makes me lonely
when he knocks on my door,"

sometimes no matter how far away you get from something, the fact it touched you so deep in the first place means that it can easily overtake you years down the line when something reminds you of it, or in this case, when that person comes back around.

i love how resigned the whole song sounds.

General CommentIt seems to me it was written as a poem and made into a song, it just has that structure.
But I love how the voice sounds and what the song means

General CommentThis song doesn't go on the top of my list for lyrics but the vocal effects are amazing, I love the feel.
