Miles out to sea
Swimming back to shore just you and me
Miles out the darkest sea
Coming back again covering me yeah
Light shivers down
Covering our hearts and flooding us all
We’ve been lost and found
Everybody’s got to try and feel that heart
My My the water’s deep
The water’s deeper than you and me yeah
My My My how we sleep
When everbody’s swimming in a darkened sea yeah
Set us free yeah
Oh how is it mean
Sitting on a shore staring back at me
Out there shadows fall
Everybody’s waiting for the sun to come
A steady heart a steady sound
Don’t let the fuckers grind you down
My My My where we’re free
Everyone’s swimming in a darkened sea yeah
Set us free
Set us free
Set us free yeah
Well,
Well,
Well,well,well,well,
well
It’s Eleven miles out
It’s in ?? out
Set free yeah
Set free yeah
Set free yeah
Set us free yeah
Swimming back to shore just you and me
Miles out the darkest sea
Coming back again covering me yeah
Light shivers down
Covering our hearts and flooding us all
We’ve been lost and found
Everybody’s got to try and feel that heart
My My the water’s deep
The water’s deeper than you and me yeah
My My My how we sleep
When everbody’s swimming in a darkened sea yeah
Set us free yeah
Oh how is it mean
Sitting on a shore staring back at me
Out there shadows fall
Everybody’s waiting for the sun to come
A steady heart a steady sound
Don’t let the fuckers grind you down
My My My where we’re free
Everyone’s swimming in a darkened sea yeah
Set us free
Set us free
Set us free yeah
Well,
Well,
Well,well,well,well,
well
It’s Eleven miles out
It’s in ?? out
Set free yeah
Set free yeah
Set free yeah
Set us free yeah

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.
Great version of a great song,
Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
