As dark as dark sky and earth, dizzily mind
As sore as sore the back of the gullet, dizziness

You can't catch me, can't catch me
Can blind birds fly? They can't

I go up the blind stairs intently
I go up the blind stairs intently
I go up the blind stairs intently
I go up the blind stairs intently

(Ladies and gentlemen)
Ladies and gentlemen, time is over
(Ladies and gentlemen)
Ladies and gentlemen, please die (ah woo)
(Ladies and gentlemen)
Ladies and gentlemen, time is over
(Ladies and gentlemen)
Ladies and gentlemen, please die (ah woo)

排水溝に流れてゆく俺の子供は無能な欠片
俺の手じゃ何も掴めない

Like a garbage, I go back to doing

Whatever I may wish, it's weed life
Whatever I may wish, it's weed life

Whatever (whatever) I may (I may) wish, it's weed life

Night and day at the end of the day
All day and so every day
夢さえも叫ぶさ I want to become happy

(Ladies and gentlemen)
Ladies and gentlemen, time is over
(Ladies and gentlemen)
Ladies and gentlemen, please die
(Ladies and gentlemen)
Ladies and gentlemen, time is over
(Ladies and gentlemen)
Ladies and gentlemen, please die (ah woo)

薔薇色真っ赤な口笑う 俺の子供は無能な欠片
自虐 虐待 死ね 忘れたい 大嫌い
花びらゲームの数え唄

Like a garbage, I go back to doing
Like a garbage, I go back to doing
Please die

God I love this song so much. This is Kyo and his vocally most playful, in my opinion. I love the lil' voice he does for 'You can't catch me, can't catch m, can blind birds fly? the can't' And his little barking roars. LOVE EM LOVE HIS VOCALS IN THIS I love it on it withers and withers too. Kyo just pwns. His voice is just the best.

Jahred: I've come to realize that slipknot sucks musicaly. yes, Joey Jordinson is one of the best drummers around, but compared to diru or any real metal band. Slipknot can't compare

Anyway! this song is amazing. I can't sleep without the cd playing

This song needs a correction... "I go up the blind stairs intently". When Kyo sings this part, it sounds more like "I go up the stairs blind intently". That way, the song results in a more coherent way.

This is probably too obvious. But I feel as though it's told from the point of a child with a negligent mother. Who probably indulges in drugs, one night stands, and isn't making any attempt to make better a life for her or her child. "I go up the stairs blind/blind stairs intently" makes me picture said kid literally going up the stairs, terrified of how he will find his mother, whether she not be there at all, maybe OD'd, fucking, etc. "The song game of counting petals" makes me think it's probably another reference to Japanese culture, something chlidren do, and so it could be an irony or contrast of a happy game, but it also reminds me of the American song, "ring around the rosey, pocket full of posey, ashes, ashes, well all fall down." The ending of course, saying everyone dies.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
