When dad moved out to a frozen land
The TV was jumping, it didn't feel right
And the cards, they came with pictures of frozen lights
And giant frozen sculptures
So big right beside him
Carved out of snow
The clouds fooled us into seeing snow
As far as we could see
But it was summer and the sun came up
And never went down for two whole weeks

My mom she cried about money and time
And how she felt older
And I didn't understand much
She left I stayed
My dad played in the bar
And I wondered if I looked like him
He was small, even with boots on
He looked like an Eskimo
And we were in Alaska
In the airport I had seen or imagined
A mural of an Arctic scene
With seals and people that seemed nicer than me
Where they smoked and talked about the disappearing ground

My dad was nice and seemed sorry for not being around
He left work early and took me to a skating rink
Where all of the kids in the world could have been
I was scared and tall with skates on
And my favorite jeans
And there was a boy who wanted to skate with me
And he held my hand
And we went around
More times than I counted
By a mural of an Arctic scene
I was looking at my feet because
It was perfect and the air was clean
And my dad was there
It was summer's last eve
And that's how I choose to remember it

General Commenther father left her and i think she's trying to remember it in a more pure and innocent way, rather than being angsty about it.

General CommentThe first part is on the end of So Long, the second is on the end of Slumbering Hearts and the last is from Spectacular Views :)

General CommentIt's about her childhood and her parent's divorce. She was scared and hated it and chooses to remember it by one memory she loved during.

General CommentDoes no one else think that that memory isn't real?

Cause in the second portion she mentions the 'Arctic Scene', and then she mentions it again in the 'memory.' ('By a mural of an Arctic scene')

The way she describes it as perfect, and with her favorite jeans, and a nice boy, and then: "And that's how I choose to remember it."

It's sad that way, but I really just think Jenny was daydreaming in the airport. She didn't get a good memory, she 'chose' her own.

General Commenti'm suprised that this song doesn't have any comments. i don't have any grand meaning that i find in this song because it's pretty straightforward, but i really like the last verse. it's so clear in my head with the way that she described it.

each verse is at the end of another song, right?

ie: the third and final verse is the last part of spectaular views.

General Commentthis is great, i've wanted to see those lyrics put together. I've been working(kinda) on putting the parts together in to one song. its just so beautiful i think it deserves to be put together.
