It's been a hard night for Sarah, the divorce went through today
Ten years out the window, she'd been faithfull all the way

She's feelin' really bitter, she's feelin' lost and small
She wonders where it all went wrong, she can't seem to recall

It's been a hard night for Sarah, she's taken quite a fall
Well he was all she ever hoped for, and she gave him all she had

Never gave a cause to worry, never hurt her or made her sad

And no one thought to tell her, they all figured that she knew
Just another flang, a phase all men go through

It's been a hard night for Sarah (for Sarah), she's gonna have to see it through

Gonna have to see it through.

Now the sun is slowly risin', on another brand-new day
The children will be waking soon and she'll send them on their way

It's been a hard night for Sarah (Hard night for Sarah)
It's been a hard night for Sarah (Hard night for Sarah)
It's been a hard night...Sarah...but today's another day.

Today's another day

General Comment:Love this song! Bobby Ritchie kicks ass! ...I'm in disbelief that no one hasn't commented on this yet!! What a shame!
this song was actually written by Bob Seger!

General Comment:I know that Bob Seger wrote this song, and if you listen to it in coralation with Bob's "Fire Lake", you'll here a mention of Aunt Sarah in "Fire Lake". Bob sings "who'll tell poor Aunt Sarah that Uncle Joe has run off to Fire Lake". I see it as Uncle Joe was cheating, on Aunt Sarah. Which would correlate to the divorce that Sarah went through in this song.
