I wrote you a poem of my passion,
To try to explain to you just why,
You’re the one I want; you’re the latest fashion,
But you have chosen that handsome guy.
Yes, you have chosen that handsome guy.

Well I tried it with champagne and flowers,
Tried to get you with the tears that I cry,
I used every trick within my powers,
But you have chosen that handsome guy.
Yes, you have chosen that handsome guy.

I know I ain’t no hero or romantic,
But sometimes I must ask myself why,
Am I being too precise or just pedantic?
But you have chosen that handsome guy.
Yes, you have chosen that handsome guy.

I’m never gonna be a millionaire,
In truth I guess I only just get by,
But I’d be a rich man if only you were there,
But you have chosen that handsome guy.
Yes, you have chosen that handsome guy.

Society is never gonna choose me,
To be a superstar, all handsome and fly.
But that ain’t no reason to abuse me,
You have chosen that handsome guy.
Yes, you have chosen that handsome guy.

He may have the looks and all the money,
He may have a palace in the sky,
He may be as sweet as honey,
He may be that handsome guy.
Yes, he’s such a handsome guy.

But he won’t love you like I do,
You’ll never be the apple of his eye,
He won’t be there when you need him to.
Please don’t choose that handsome guy.
Please don’t choose that handsome guy.
Please don’t choose that handsome guy.

General CommentA really sad song- I think "That Handsome Guy" is God, and the singer is trying to persuade a girl to ditch her religious persuasions and "do the deed" with him.
