The culprit, you act before thinking
Caught in your ignorant sin
And lying to your own reflection,
You thought you could hide

Deprived of my own innocence, denied
The infinity of recurring torment, is your comeuppance
See, hear the torture inside
Devouring what was left of my pride
You thought it's not going to happen to you,
Thought you could hide

Deprived of my own innocence, denied
The infinity of recurring torment, is your comeuppance
Dwelling in my mind, mixed up and
Your regret has spread over the sea

Ooh

Deprived of my own innocence, denied
The infinity of recurring torment, is your comeuppance
Dwelling in my mind, mixed up and
Your regret has spread over the sea

This song is about a woman who gets pregnant due to neglegence, aborts the child and ends up regretting it all her life.

Might be. The depriving of innocence is a clue in that direction, but the culprits comeuppance is also mentioned, so maybe the woman get back at him at the very last?

@GotSpoo: Actually I'm not religious. This is just the way I interpret it, and I think it makes sense. And for the record you also don't have to be religious to regret having an abortion, or to be opposed to it.

well! it coulb an abortion but what about "you thought is not going to happen to you" i dont know about that, maybe is just that someone becuase it doesnt have to be a woman even though it is a woman who is singing but it could be another sin that a person is regreting, it does tells about GUILT

It sounds more like someone who has committed an unspecified crime against someone else is going to suffer from guilt for the rest of their life, and is considered their punishment.

    My Interpretation

I think this could be a blame to the government...

The culprit, you act before thinking Caught in your ignorant sin And lying to your own reflection, you thought you could hide (the politicians lie for the financial situation, steal money not thinking about the people and even try to justify their actions)

Deprived of my own innocence, denied The infinity of recurring torment, your comeuppance (probably the girl was forced to do immoral things from a very young age to eke out her living... May be a begger, a thief or even a prostitude. She is suffering she doesn't want that and blames the government for her tornament)

See, hear the torture inside Devouring what was left of my pride You thought it's not going to happen to you, thought you could hide (she talks about the mentioned before)

The infinity of recurring torment, your comeuppance Dwelling in a mind, mixed up and Your regret has spread over the sea (I think this is about fake remorse. Politicians sometimes admit they have been mistaken but only for publicity and this is heard throughout the world by the media. Yet this doesn't solve anything.People remain confused and desperate with their doubts as strong as ever. Her shame is deep within her dwelling in her mind and she knows it will keep on because of them.)

This is my interpretation and I hope it is helpful...I find the story of this young woman having to prostitude, steal and beg to live is very touching and must make us all wonder who are governing us and why we have chose them...

    My Interpretation

I think that it could be about woman, that cheated on her partner and got pregnant of it. She realizes that it was mistake and loves her partner, but it's too late and suffers from lost love.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
