This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines:
"Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet"
So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other:
"I had all and then most of you"
Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart
"Some and now none of you"
Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship.
This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"
Got an open mouth and open sores too
Got an oversized opinion of you
Got a long race and no chance to lose
Got an oversized opinion for two
Got an open mouth and open sores too
Got an indifferent opinion of you
Got an open mouth and nothin to lose
Got an oversized opinion of you
Oh, knocked down
Take back these pictures off the ground
Oh, knocked down
You act like I'm plenty okay and I'm not okay, though
Well, think it over, I've got a four leaf clover
You act like I'm plenty okay and I'm not okay, though
Think it over, I've got a four leaf clover
You act like you're plenty okay and are you okay, though?
Well, think it over, I've got a four leaf clover
You act like you're plenty okay and are you okay, though?
You think it over, I keep just getting nauseous

Ummm.....does anyone know if this song is on one of Modest Mouse's EPs, or what?
I think the lyrics are great (possibly referring to having imperfections that are clearly seen because of opening one's self up through talking, etc.) but I want to hear the music to get a full taste of it before I establish a firm opinion.

What I hear:
Got an open mouth, an open source too. Got an oversized opinion of you. Got a long race and no chance to lose. Got an oversized opinion for two.
Got an open mouth, an open source too. Got an indifferent opinion of you. Got an open mouth and nothin' to lose. Got an oversized opinion of you.
Yeah, I'm down. (unknown), off the ground. Yeah, I'm down.
(Unkown) This isn't over, I've got a four leaf clover. (Unkown) This isn't over, I've got a four leaf clover.
i think it says they pick this shit off the ground, like four leaf clovers? I'm probably not right but thats what it hear.
I definatly think it's saying this isn't over, I've got a four leaf clover (which would make sense with the off the ground part).
I aslo think that part that is almost completely unable to be understood says something about God putting your past behind you. I hear God the second time, but not the first and I hear past behind you both times.
