"Our Finest Year" as written by and Kevin Griffin....
I am bending, made of steel
And I am stumbling towards something real
How can you forget this feeling
Of standing straight while the world is reeling?

Don't leave me here alone
You're as close as it gets to home

Don't look down
You might fall
Life made rookies of us all (In our finest year)
Don't wait up
We'll be fine
Somehow we might get it right
In our finest year

I am hopeful, full of doubt
And I am trying to work this whole thing out
So how can you just sit there sleeping
When your world's on fire and your chest is beating?

And I want to think you feel the same

In this moment, while you're breathing, if the future leaves you needing
Will you be the one who stares are your life just slips away?
Don't leave me here alone
You're as close as it gets to home

I'll be there
If you fall
Love made suckers of us all

General CommentSuch an amazing song. I'm surprised that there are no comments on this one.

So well written and the line "Life made rookies of us all in our finest year." is amazing and oh so true. Even at their best, nobody is anywhere near perfect.

Anyway, I've always thought this song to be about someone that's just getting into the real life. Right out of college or maybe even High School.

"Don't look down; you might fall" is saying that you shouldn't doubt yourself and you should always 'keep your head up' and some would say. If you do doubt yourself, you will get nowhere.

"Don't wait up; we'll be fine." is stating how you should never wait around for others if they're holding you up. Just go at the pace you need to go, and your other friends will go at theirs.

"Somehow, we might get it right in our finest year." means that if you keep working at whatever you're trying to accomplish, you will eventually get there, and it will be your "finest year" because of the feeling of success that you feel.

General CommentI always sort of thought that it was that year BEFORE they made it out into the real world. Then they realized that even it wasn't perfect.
