"Burned" as written by and Kevin Griffin....
On a Tuesday in December
When you walked out I remember
You were smiling as you turned 'round
In the hallway, lingered in the doorway

Still the words you said to me
They make me think of how we used to be

Hand to my heart
I want to be the one who always learned
She says You're just like the sun
I get so burned when you are close to me

In the back room of a mansion
You are planning your deception
Always calling, never phoning
I'm a victim of another's war

Still the words you said to me
Come ringing in your silent symphony

Hand to my heart
I want to be the one who always learned
She says You're just like the sun
I get so burned when you are close to me

And still it hurts so bad
I thought I'd get on over on you
And still I hope you're sad
Deserving more than anyone

I could give you one reason
You could be my winning season
All the things we could have been just fell away

Hand to my heart
I want to be the one who always learned
She says You're just like the sun
I get so burned when you are close to me

General CommentThis makes me remember shit that happened to me in my own life and it's still going on. I dated a girl for 4-6 months depending on the "official" date we started going out. I loved her more than you can imagine and she told me the same, but in the end we chose to split because of complications with school. I later found out that she liked another guy and that was the reason we "didn't get along" any more. Now she wants to be best friends after what we went though and it's ridiculous. This song sounds like a story where someone loved another person and they just screwed them over but still looking for what they want out of them. And now it burns them to see that person now knowing what they did to them.

General Commentthe way i see it, she broke up with him because of her personal issues and insecurities: i'm a victim of another's war (like her own wars within herself).. and the chorus speaks about how she thinks she's not good enough (i get so burned when you get close to me).. basically she's been trying to drown her insecurity but it eventually caught up to her (the words you said to me come ringing in your silent symphony).. sad part is the guy hates her because he doesn't know about it..
