You don't seem to understand the deal
I don't give two shits on how you feel
You're burned by my lighter
You've been burned by my lighter
And my lighter is held down by my thumb

You're living in thought so
You're living in thought so
You're living in thought so...

You tried to turn me off
But you couldn't even turn me down
As I sat and I told you were living in hell

You're in desert ground
And now you've found
My foreman and you
And you'll since I got in this well...

You're living in thought so
You're in thought so
You're in thought so...

I know it sounds like soul, but I'm almost positive he says "Thought so..." Imo this song is like a wake up call. You're living in thought, imagination. He's saying get off your ass and do something. He doesn't care how you feel, hes going to tell you how it is. Burning you with his lighter to snap you back into reality from your thoughts. You try to tune him out, but you can't. Life is hell. And he just let you konw it.

This is a huge mosh pit monster, great groove. The 'you've been burned by my lighter' bit never ceases to get caught in my head. My favoutite Kyuss song.

Sounds like it's about someone whose life is in the shitter and someone else is pushing them down even further.

Yeah, when I think about it now, I think he does say "so". It fits in better with its meaning anyhow, sort of a big "fuck off" - a reality check. The first 5 lines make that clear.

Anywho, I fixed the lyrics so they'll be fine now.

The atmosphere the opening sets up is magnificent, it kind of sets the tone for the whole album.

I totally agree with the meaning you hav ecome up with but I reckon the lyrics are: 'You’re livin' in thoughts though'. I have also listened to a live version and it's easier to hear this...it's also one of the best live tracks I've ever heard!

To me the meaning of the song is about people who are against something that's absurd. From the sounds of it this song could be against people who smoke. "You don't seem to understand the deal I don't give two shits on how you feel" simply implies this how you don't give a flying fuck on what the person thinks. "You're burned by my ligher you've been burned by my lighter and my lighter is held down by my thumb" a huge fuck you saying basically what the lyrics read, you've been burned, it's obvious that your thoughts are useless to me and you've been burned. "Your living in thoughts so" the individual he's talking about is obviously so wrapped up in thoughts that they feel they have to be self righteous in what they believe in (smoking?). "You tried to turn me off but you couldn't even turn me down" saying hey your trying to tell me what i'm doing is wrong you telling me it's wrong has no effect on me. "As I said and I told you you are living in hell" saying you having these negative thoughts are making you live in a hell. "You're on desert ground and now you've found" look at you your nowhere. "And now you've found" what did you find in your self righteous journey to preach your negative thoughts on how others live your life? "My thumb in the kneelin and you sit there caught in this well" saying, hey you you got all of these stupid ideas past youa and youy can't do anything about this i'm still gonna light up!

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
