Who kicked a hole in the sky
So the heavens would cry over me
Who stole the soul from the sun
In a world come undone at the seams

Let there be love
Let there be love

I hope the weather is calm
As you sail up your heavenly stream
Suspended clear in the sky
Are the words that we sing in our dreams

Let there be love
Let there be love
Let there be love
Let there be love

C'mon baby blue
Shake up your tired eyes
The world is waiting for you
May all your dreaming fill the empty sky

But if it makes you happy
Keep on clapping
Just remember I'll be by your side
And if you don't let go it's gonna pass you by

Who kicked a hole in the sky
So the heavens would cry over me
Who stole the soul from the sun
In a world come undone at the seams

Let there be love
Let there be love
Let there be love
Let there be love

Let there be love
Let there be love
Let there be love
Let there be love

Let there be love

Fools!! This is not a simple love song. Noel Gallagher is a deeper poet than that. This song is about the decline and fall of the modern Western powers and economies that is happening in our lifetime. Here is my translation.

Who kicked a hole in the sky so the heavens would cry over me? Who's responsible for the ozone hole and acid rain?

Who stole the soul from the sun in a world come undone at the seams? Where's the sacred joy of life gone in this wretched, evil violent world?

Let there be love - Let there be love Why can't we simply have a world of love instead?

I hope the weather is calm as you sail up your heavenly stream Will we ever see an end to conflict as long as we continue on our materialistic binge at the expense of the world's poor?

Suspended clear in the sky are the words that we sing in our dreams The whole world is crying out a fairer deal - for something better Let there be love - Let there be love - Let there be love - Let there be love

Come on baby blue Baby Blue = the West that aspires to conquer and dominate, as in Bob Dylan's 'It's all over now, BB'

Shake up your tired eyes Controlling an ever-more-complex world militarily is a wearying pursuit

The world is waiting for you The whole non-wealthy world is waiting for the West to wake up and find a better way to create a more equitable system

May all your dreaming fill the empty sky May all the wealth and benefits the West enjoys and pursues be accessible to the poor (the empty sky) also

But if it makes you happy Keep on clapping Clapping to make ourselves happy = patting ourselves on the back, reiterating the false hero/peace/bringers of democarcy/modernism narrative that the West has deceitfully promoted since the colonial age

Just remember I'll be by your side Don't forget that we who don't agree with selfish Western policies but couldn't help being born in the West will suffer alongside the short-sighted policy makers of our nations

And if you don't let go, it's gonna pass you by If we don't wake up and change to share the wealth of the world with out fellow man, our time as dominant national powers will be eclipsed by the new growth economies (eg, China, India, Taiwan) and we will become Second World countries.

to me, this song signifies how you should open up and let others into your world when you feel lonely, and when you feel that you have lost a part of who you are. Others will be by your side and remind you of the life you are missing out of if you don't 'let there be love' and if you block yourself from the obstacles of reality.

Ummmm...these lyrics are now entirely and COMPLETELY wrong...with the exception of "Let there be love" :p...these are the lyrics to It's A Crime - the demo version of Let There Be Love...Let There Be Love has absolutely stunning lyrics one of the reasons why I love the song so much more now than in the demo form (It's a Crime)...ie first verse from the real one: "Who keeps a hole in the sky So the heavens would cry over me Who stole the soul from the sun In a world come undone at the seams" So yeah, I'm gonna try to submit the real lyrics...I suggest someone change the name of this to It's a Crime since there's no page for the demo lyrics yet anyway...

Posted this up cause the lyrics posted by the other guy were the lyrics to It's a Crime, the demo version of Let There Be Love. As you can see, the lyrics to the real version are fantastic compared to the crappy lyrics on their demo. I couldn't believe how much better Let There Be Love was than the demo version...probably my favorite Oasis song since Gas Panic!

okay i gotta say since i've heard the album, this is definately the best song (and the instrumental) and i love it, but that's also a bad thing becos the best song on here is a remake of a demo from years ago. my opinion (yell at me if you will) is that they write too many damn psychadelic songs now and haven't written an album with more than 2 or 3 pop songs for almost 10 years. oh well, i guess they gotta evolve and all that but honestly you never hear anything poppy at all like that anymore. let the yelling ensue

The thing though is that while this is the best song on the album, it's one of those incredibly insanely great Oasis songs and the rest of the album is truly excellent as well. Though I'm not finding myself a big fan of Love Like a Bomb and Guess God Thinks I'm Abel (the soundclips were promising but the full versions were a bit disappointing to me...maybe I'll warm up to them with repeat listens?), I love everything else on the album...my other favorite song on this album is The Importance of Being Idle which I would post up but i can't figure out one or two lines in the song, but I fucking love the lyrics to that song and the melody is so damn catchy. Also big into Mucky Fingers and Part of this Queue though not as much as teh above two mentioned.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
