"when the sun hits" as written by and Neil ...
Sweet thing, I watch you
Burn so fast it scares me

My game, please don't leave me
Come so far, don't lose me
It matters where you are

As the sun hits, she'll be waiting
With the coffins under heaven
Hey hey lover, you're still burning
You're his song yeah (hey hey)

Sweet thing, I watch you
Burn so fast it scares me

My game, don't lose me
Come so far don't lose me
It matters where you are

As the sun hits, she'll be waiting
With the coffins under heaven
Hey hey lover, you're still burning
You're his song yeah (hey hey)

Sweet thing I watch you (burn away)

General Commentit seems like almost all the songs on souvlaki are love songs. then the fact that rachel and neil broke up before the writing and recording of the record and most songs are written by neil anyway. gives you a little insight into what these songs could be about.

Lyric CorrectionDoes anyone have any source for these lyrics? There's another version floating around(slowdivedatabase.com/index.php/Slowdive/…), and I think it has some correct parts.
I haven't found any official source, but I haven't looked too hard. A pic of the liners or something would be cool...

Lyric Correction"with the coffins under heaven" should be "with her cool things, and her heaven" - doesn't make any more sense that way, but that's how it goes!

    other corrections:
should be "mind games" not "my game"

and "hey hey lover, you still burn me, you're a song", "not "burning / his song"

General Comment-- Those lyrics seem off. This is how I hear it. --

    Sweet thing I watch you
Burn so fast it scares me
    Mind games don't move me
Come so far don't lose me
    It matters where you are

As the sun hits she'll be waiting
With the cold things under heaven
Hey hey lover you're still burning
You're his song yeah (hey hey hey)

    Sweet thing I watch you
Burn so fast it scares me
    Mind game don't lose me
Numb so far don't lose me
    It matters where you are

As the sun hits she'll be waiting
With the cold things under heaven
Hey hey lover you're still burning
You're his song yeah (hey hey hey)

Sweet thing I watch you (hey hey hey)

General CommentThe vocal hook on the chorus of this song reminds me a lot of Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit." Of course I think Nirvana were terribly overrated and I'd listen to "When The Sun Hits" a hundred times before that grunge anthem.
