I've written letters to you on whitest paper
But they've all returned to me a pale brown
And I've tried to stand up to it
But it all seemed kind of useless
So I'm writing you this letter from the ground

And if you see a gentleman of promise
Stealing looks at you from there across the room
And if your tired heart, it dances
From exchanging second glances
Don't hesitate to steal your glances, too

And I wanted to wait 'til the sun would appear
Picking flowers and placing them over our ears
But you are what you are
And I'm not very far along

But something tells me there will come a time
Tired of that back-and-forth affair that we've been through
And thinking more than once it may be time for something new
And suddenly you'll see him standing there across the room Staring at you...

Chorus

And if your tired heart it dances
From exchanging second glances
Please don't hesitate to put this letter down

this is one of the best sherwood songs. "If your tired heart, it dances from exchanging second glances"... i love those lyrics. it really describes situations i've been in...situations that i could never describe until hearing this song. man, i love these guys.

Wow. I was pasively listening to this song and I heard the last lyrics: "Please don't hesitate to put this letter down"

This guy really likes her, he loves her so much that if she'll be happy with that other guy he'll let her go. I love sherwood also.

i love this song. it makes me smile. i love this band. they make me smile.

yeah, kholdster, i agree. kind of like the high school cliche of a girl having a geek best friend who is in love with her, yet she's in love with the gorgeous popular boy that doesn't even know she exists. only better and less cheesey.

I can't believe Sherwood is not more commented...I love them so much. And I love how the guy in this song seems like a genuinely nice guy, (which is so very rare) not the one who thinks he's all that and treats his girl like crap.

I kind of feel like this song is about a relationship that is having issues... and that the singer is telling the other person that if they would rather start anew with someone else, he'd understand. It could be about a long distance relationship, too, though....

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
