Men are waiting patiently
Remove me from the scene
A sea of faceless souls in suits
A sight for eyes
Like thumbs
Sore, crooked, and bow and foul relief
You have
You have been exposed

Your eyes speak well of you
They play my requiem
To a closed-casket burial
Your conspiracy
Conspiring to deliver me
To the authorities
I've been betrayed so graciously

My bloodhounds hooked your trail of ink
Which led me to the words you scribbled down
Obituary dedicated to me
[Submit before coming]

Your eyes speak well of you
They play my requiem
To a closed casket burial
Your conspiracy
Conspiring to deliver me
To the authorities
I've been betrayed so graciously

Might as a well be blind with isolated eyes like mine

Your fingers are star crossed lovers
That can't seem to get enough of each other
This pantomime dialect
Doesn't practice what you preach
Doesn't practice what you preach

Might as a well be blind with isolated eyes like mine
Might as a well be blind with isolated eyes like mine
Might as a well be blind with isolated eyes like mine

Your eyes speak well of you
Blur your eyes and bend the lines
Do you like what you see?
Oh, Romeo

General Commenthm no comments here? i'm not entirely sure about what this song means but i can tell that "Your conspiracy: Conspiring to deliver me to the authorities. I have been betrayed so graciously." is referring back to "Planning A Prison Break".. that song is a metaphor for being unhappy with who you are and therefore deciding to change or planning a prison break... so those lines could be about someone threatening to screw up his new start (threatening to screw up the prison break by turning him in)

also some lyrics are missing at the end of these.. he says
    "Blur your eyes (Romeo)
    Bend the lines (Romeo)
Do you like what you see?
    Oh Romeo"

General CommentI assume that that set of lyrics is from the booklet that comes with the CD, because there are many missing lyrics (as stated above) and other ones that are just blatantly wrong (such as the line "sing the requiem" is actually "play the requiem").

As for meaning, this song seems to relate back to the beginning of the CD (as it has been stated). This song however doesn't have the same meaning as the first (not including the introduction), it has the complete opposite. Planning a Prison Break deals with figuring out who you are and changing yourself for the better. The main analogy is "its the last night in my body" which shows that the person is changing. This song is either the end of the plan to change oneself or atleast a minor setback. The first song deals with breaking out of prison and this one seems like someone (probably the one who helped you break out) sold you out and your going back in. I think the lyrical evidence is pretty blatant and I don't need to show which lyrics mean what.

General CommentMaybe this is a stupid question, but shouldn't the song be named Verona? Not, Venona? Obviously this has something to do with Romeo and Juliet, like someone else pointed out at the end it says "Do you like what you see?Oh Romeo"
Also, phrases like 'star-crossed lovers' are directly from the play (that phrase in the prologue). The play is set in Verona, Venona is a close spelling... but not exact.. am I missing something?

General CommentVenona was a small program set up during the cold war. In 1943 the US Army set up this secretive program to spy on the soviets. The intelligence found by this program include discussions on soviet Nuclear proliferation, as well as KGB messages coming from areas such as New York City and Mexico City. What this has to do exactly with the song is up to interpretation, but the lyrics do work well with it, and you can take it for what its worth that, that is what venona was. (I highly doubt that it was a mistake though that Verona and veona are so close and spelling and there are references to both he whole spy thing as well as Romeo and Juliet.)

General CommentWith all of your references to Romeo & Juliet, an interesting fact about the entire album itself ("Between the Heart and the Synapse" for those who don't know *greatly recommended, by the way..*) there is definitely an obvious reference to this particular play, and specifically William Shakespeare. (The album's front features a drawing *OF* William Shakespeare himself, with his body morphing and changing, coming apart.) So this was apparently intentional for listeners to connect the album's storyline with that particular play. Not too helpful, but an interesting fact. ^_^ (A *lot* of the songs on this album reference Romeo & Juliet in some way or another.)

General CommentIt is not Verona, it is Venona. The only Venona that I know about is the project to collect Soviet spy data during World War II. The project was so secretive that even the president was not informed about it. It is been charged that many important American government figures were actually working for Joseph Stalin.
Many historians dispute the findings, but taken together with the transcripts of the hearings that were undertaken after the war, and the archives of the Soviets themselves, they are pretty damning.
The lyrics seem to point to a conspiracy of that sort.
