This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
You're beautiful
In an asymmetric kind of way
You're face is not a cliche
And you complicate
In a helpful kind of messed up way
But you have good intentions
You don't care for shiny things
Don't wear a puzzle ring
You're always listening to a sea-shell
There is a tiny light
That no-one else can see
It shines inside of me
Can you feel it?
And now I
I'm sending out my love
I'm calling on the universe
Now I
I radiate the vibe
Can you feel the frequency in this random blinking light?
I'm beautiful
In an ugly kind of fucked up way
My face is not a cliche
And I complicate
In a disconcering heartfelt way
But I have good intentions
I don't care for shiny things
Don't wear a puzzle ring
I'm always listening to a sea-shell
But you have this tiny light
And no-one else can see
It pulses randomly
And I can feel it
Now I
I'm sending out my love
I'm calling on the universe
Now I
I radiate the vibe
Can you feel the frequency of this random blinking light?
It's so full of love
Beautiful feeling, healing
And I
I radiate the vibe
And I can see this answer to my random blinking light
Making it's way through space and time
Are you recieving signals?
Now I
I radiate both dark and light
Spinning through the universe
Thoughts without a word
Sound I've never heard
And now I
I'm sending out my love
I'm calling on the universe
Now I
I radiate the vibe
Can you feel this frequency of this random blinking light?
It's so full of love
Beautiful feeling, healing
And I
I radiate the vibe
I have found an answer to my random blinking light
Shiny thing
You don't wear a puzzle ring
You're always listening to a sea-shell
There is a thiny light
That no-one else can see
You are, you are
You are, you are
You are pulsing
You radiate
You are, you are
You eminate
You are pulsing
We are, we are
We are pulsing
We're emining
We are, you are
We are, we are
In an asymmetric kind of way
You're face is not a cliche

I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
I adore this song...I hope you all have a chance to listen to it, cause it worths it, it should have been included in The Tension And The Spark, since it matches perfectly with the feelings in the album. I have a very particular interpretation to it, and it is that you have something/someone that makes you shine...They probably aren't there all the time, but they matters so much...and they lighten us up. To me is a way of saying to those who I care for: You are different from the rest, I am different, that's why we match and things like you make this world worth living...and all I am saying is, can you feel it too?, can you feel the vibrations that I'm sending to you?. Thank you for that light, that doesn't shine all the time, but still does...it pulses randomly, and I can feel it. :)
Very good analysis Gabigs, as per usual. This song does seem to be about aknowledging each others faults in a relationship, and not really giving a damn about them, even embracing them because that is straight up, who they are. Faults and all. It also seems to suggest that to someone who finds a lover who they are wrapped up in, they seem so unique...irreplaceable and very special, no matter what.
I liked your interpretation Misseverus, it might be about accepting other's flaws as well. To me it was captivating since the first time I heard it, and the title struck me from the start. What did "Random Blinking Light" meant?...well, to me it was what I said above...someone who is there to light up our lives even every once in a while. The way he sings "You are", and "we are" at the end is breathtaking, as well as his use of such unique vocabulary. Nowadays, I enjoy particularly the lines "And now I'm sending out my love, I'm calling out the universe"...maybe he needs something more than that, someone who stays longer. Or maybe it's because I've changed and I see it that way now, cause that's what I need :)
It's spectacular how we can interpert lyrics completely different in one period in our lives to another. Such complexity in one's mind. I think it's brilliant either way, you are so insighful, it's a pleasure to read everything you write.
aww thank you, I'm so glad I'm not alone on this page anymore!!! :) It's my pleasure to read yours as well. For some reason, this song strikes me...
