"North Hanging Rock" as written by Martin Noble, Jan Scott Wilkinson, Neil Hamilton Wilkinson, Matthew James Wood and Eamon Peter Hamilton....
Drape yourself in greenery
Become part of the scenery
Ever since time immemorial
It's all stored up in chemicals
Witness the demolition of boy in prime condition, oh
Into the dusk, we will descend
I hope and pray that this won't end
So say goodbye to everybody
Tell them all I am so sorry
Oh, I wish I could have said goodbye

What else could I do?
What else could I do?

Drape yourself in greenery
Become part of the scenery
Into the past, we'll all descend
We'll hope and pray that it won't end

Drape yourself in greenery
Become part of the scenery
Oh drape yourself in greenery
Become part of the scenery

General CommentMaybe there is some correlation to be made with Peter Weir's "Picnic at Hanging Rock," wherein a group of schoolgirls disappear into the Australian bush during a picnic, presumably the result of some kind of powerful natural magic. The idea of two lovers trying to absorb themselves into the landscape to escape their problems is particularly appealing to me.

General CommentLike I did with Poison Oak (Bright Eyes) and Proof (Coldplay), I teared up when this song came on for the first time. The tune is perfect to get this point across.

It's obvious there is a drug reference here. "Witness the demolition of a boy in prime condition" really sums up the use of drugs in teens these days.

"Tell them all I am so sorry/Oh, I wish I could have said goodbye" may be a suicide note, like he couldn't take it anymore.

I really think this song deserves more comments. BSP is just a magnificent band. I am in love with them.

General CommentYeah - put those two ideas together from above - disappearing into the landscape, like in Picnic At Hanging Rock, through drugs, magic, suicide, in a bearsuit, on a magic carpet etc etc etc. Having a Magic Eye moment.

General CommentI think it's about people nullifying themselves with different type of medication. It reminiscent of Blackout in that respect.

General CommentCould it not be about burying a friend or family member, who for some reason died before their time, perhaps as a result of something the writer did (or didn't do)?

Wishing he could say goodbye because he wasn't there, being sorry because there was something (or nothing) he could have done. I've never heard of this Hanging Rock as a place I figured it referred to a headstone (which also becomes part of the scenery)
