I went out on the street today
The Canadian Dream was as far away as it's ever been
As it's ever been

I went out on the street today
The Canadian Dream was as far away as it's ever been
As it's ever been

S.O.C.I.A.L.I.S.M. is here to stay
S.O.C.I.A.L.I.S.M. is the only way

Frozen land, frozen minds
Frozen hands and frozen time

'Cause everything moves real slow when it's forty below
Everything moves real slow when it's forty below
Yeah, everything moves real slow when it's forty below
When it's forty below

S.O.C.I.A.L.I.S.M. is here to stay
S.O.C.I.A.L.I.S.M. is the only way

'Cause everything moves real slow when it's forty below
Everything moves real slow when it's forty below
Yeah, everything moves real slow when it's forty below
When it's forty below

I went out on the street today
The Canadian Dream was as far away
I went out on the street today
The Canadian Dream was as far away

S.O.C.I.A.L.I.S.M. is here to stay
S.O.C.I.A.L.I.S.M. is the only way

I am not sure what the meaning of this song is. I believe that he is either saying that Socialism is the Canadian dream, or else that Socialist tendencies prevent the Canadian dream from being realized. I would tend to lean toward the latter, but I don't really know. I would like to hear other people's opinions.
