I worked all day until a quarter to four
collected my pay - I ain't workin' no more
sittin' at the bar, mingling with the crowd
listenin' to guitar, I'm a foamin' at the mouth

turn it up, turn it up, turn it up, turn it up
turn it up, turn it up, turn it up, turn it up
turn it up, turn it up, turn it up, turn it up
turn it up, turn it up, turn it up, turn it up
when I'm knockin', let me in your house
when I'm rockin', turn it up loud, turn it up

out late baby last night 'til dawn
rockin' like crazy with the radio on
early in the mornin', I'm feelin' half-dead
girl stops a moanin' and she looks at me and says

tturn it up, turn it up, turn it up, turn it up
turn it up, turn it up, turn it up, turn it up...

when I'm knockin', let me in your house
when I'm rockin', turn it up loud, turn it up

turn it up

when I go out and don't want to be bored
my money's down hidden in the door
listen Jack, I'm here tonight
it's a natr'l known fact the the customer is right

turn it up, turn it up, turn it up, turn it up
turn it up, turn it up, turn it up, turn it up
turn it up, turn it up, turn it up, turn it up
turn it up, turn it up, turn it up, turn it up
when I'm knockin', let me in your house
when I'm rockin', turn it up loud, turn it up

turn it up!
ow!

turn it up

    General CommentThis one's an obscurity...
When I was probably 6 or 8, my father had already gotten me hooked on the Daredevils, and every time this song would come on the stereo, I would shout "Turn it up! Turn it up!" So... the volume went up. He also took me to see them a few times, and on one occasion, in Belleville, IL, I was working my way toward the front, away from my dad. This couple, I guess, thought I was cute, and asked me what my favorite OMD song was. "Turn it up!" I replied, no hesitation. I think I probably throughly impressed them, it's such a little- known song. Or maybe I just confused them.

That was a really long story that doesn't explain the song at all. I just don't think a lot of explaining is necessary.
