In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Love this song!! It is my favorite by far on the CD. Maybe it is just because I am a huge pansy but this song made me cry. Before you draw your judgments let me explain... This is my last year in high school and everything is going great except one of my best friends. She is madly in love with a loser. The whole school hates him because he is mean and skuzzy. With in a week of knowing him she lost her virginity to him to make him love her. “And you thought you could change the world. By opening your legs" Now four months into the relationship she is being both mentally and physically abused by him “And it doesn't matter what I say or do. The stupid bastard's gonna have his way with you” I feel so helpless because we no longer talk and she hates me because we argued about him and how he treats her. I wish there was a way to tell her that I am still there for her.
