"Kaye" as written by Marshall N Altman and Mark Houlihan....
Kaye, are you even real?
Do you think that maybe we could be lovers once in a while?
Say something I can feel
I am never here and it's impossible to heal
Go ahead and understand me underneath this killer blue sky
Go ahead and understand me please.

Kaye, are you even real?
Do you think we'll ever figure it out, I'm running out of hope
Say anything you feel
Maybe you can do it for the both of us and I'll untie the rope

Kaye, out there in the world I am full of their hate, their crime
In here we are both light and pure of heart
Out there in the world I am left for dead don't help me
In here it's like we can be pure of heart.

It's hard enough to breathe right here, let alone be right here, let alone here you say, "love."
It's hard enough trying to be strong right now
I try to be wrong right now
I try to be anything that doesn't scare her away.

Kaye, are you even real?
Do you think that maybe we could just stay here?

General Commentgood song...lyrics don't mean too much to me, but it's wonderfully catchy, and their concerts kick-it.

General CommentI reckon he knows this girl called Kaye, and they're good friends but he really wants to move up a gear and make it something special.

Do you think that maybe we could be lovers once in a while?

He begins to think that Kaye is so perfect she might be a dream - "are you even real?", but her rejection and unwillingness to move forward is making him "run out of hope"

He reckons when he's with her they can be "pure of heart", towards the end of the song however, he realises that because as friends they're pure of heart and happy, that moving on would be wrong.

So he asks if they can just stay how they are.

    Great song.

General CommentJust listening to it right now, it sounds like he's being embittered by the real world and its bad things. Here you have Kaye who somehow has managed to say relatively innocent and he wants to be with her because of that. Maybe I'm just being optimistic.

General CommentIn their video of this song, Kaye is a mystery. I think "she" is in fact meant to be so for certain reasons. One of them being that she is only the epitome of what the guy desires in his life, and not a real person. She represents the love, safety, and pureness of this world. Strictly my opinion of course.

General Commentthis song got me hooked on this band. its probably their best song.
i think that its probably about a girl that wouldnt stay for one reason or another. it sounds like hes willing to let go if she is...
    "Say anything you feel
Maybe you can do it for the both of us
    And ill untie the rope"
the rope being whats keeping them together
and now he is "out there in the world" and he doesnt like it, because what he had was free of the bitterness of the world
