let’s leave work early
flee from the city
run to the suburbs and pack our bags
let’s fly to an island
with no newspapers
we’ll bring our swimsuits and swim all day

i think i forgot the suntan lotion
i think i forgot the film for the camera
but it’s okay there’s
a store down the street
where i can buy almost anything that i’ll ever need
where i can buy almost anything that i’ll ever need
where i can buy almost anything that i’ll ever need

let’s go back home
to where it’s familiar
i can’t take this bright burning sun
let’s hold hands
when we take off today
i think i miss the way we used to be

i think i forgot the suntan lotion
i think i forgot the film for the camera
but it’s okay there’s
a store down the street
where i can buy almost anything that i’ll ever need
where i can buy almost anything that i’ll ever need
where i can buy almost anything that i’ll ever need

General Commentobvious ya know? escaping from the city, going to a little sun-drenched stretch of beach and being removed from the rush i.e. newspapers.

but it's time to go back, the sun's too bright and we'll go back to what we're so used to, the rush of the world and the dreary city.

General Commenti dont think its really that obvious, i mean on one level it is that simple but i think its also about taking risks in a more general sense, and not being comfortable with it.

General CommentI think the "store down the street" is probably a key part to the song, with it being in the chorus and all. I'm thinkin that it's referring to how, even if you go on vacation to get away from the rest of the world, you can never completely escape (hence the store where they have to go to buy the things they forgot). The world around you is always affecting you, and no matter how hard to try to get away from it, you'll never quite make it.

General Commenti think that this song is about wanting to know something and thinking that it's going to be something really great. like maybe the ultimate question is there a god or an afterlife. it's about not being prepared to know the real answer. and then you want to go back to the way things were before when you were naive but it's too late and you can't.

General CommentA truly complex song, highlighting the self-destructive nature of the human mind. The grass isn't any greener on the other side, and familiarity is a trap, holding you back from enjoying an out of the ordinary experience.
