You picked up your favorite dress
Made yourself up your very best
I know you're trying to be
Anyone's everything
I know you're dying to be
Broken and let down by me

[Repeat x2]
With those eyes that you throw me
And those lines that you sold me
I can't break if I don't bend
And she's not coming around again

[Repeat x2]
You know you've gotta leave
Get up get up get out
And don't be safe
Find yourself and your way there

Fall in fall out
And than jump in again
I'm not running I'm just walking faster
Don't let this keep you down
Why do that to yourself
What could you be after

[Repeat x2]
With those eyes that you throw me
And those lines that you sold me
I can't break if I don't bend
And she's not coming around again

[Repeat x2]
You know you've gotta leave
Get up get up get out
And don't be safe
Find yourself and your way there

[Repeat x2]
You know you've gotta leave
Get up get up get out
And don't be safe
Find yourself and your way there

question. aren't these the lyrics for "gold dust v. state of illinois". it's seriously so confusing but i think there's some sorta confusion. even purevolume.com is playing tricks on the correct names of the songs. it was rly confusing. for real

No, these are the lyrics. Great song by the way, one of my favorites on the album.

To me it's about a girl who can't be with a guy because she's worried what other people think. The guy is trying to tell her that nothing like that matters, which would be the whole "'its not who you are It's not who you know" part. The guy realizes that she's not worth it after she leaves him because she was worried about her image; "You fell for less. Just like i fell for you."

Yeah the "Ypu fell for less, Just like I fell for you" makes me kind of sad in a way, becuase I can totally relate. I can relate all of Spitalfield's stuff. They rock

Wow, so many of the lyrics on this site for this CD are COMPLETELY Wrong. Here, I'll Correct.

Is that really you? Could you be standing there? Please send a perfect line to catch me in a lie and take me where I cannot defend what I was trying for... Or dying for by wishing this would end.

Please don't say anything (hey now). 'Cause only when my eyes are closed Do you feel this close to me.

Do you feel scandalous? Running fingers through my hair. Knowing inside if I was not there. You'd be somewhere else. With somebody else. Your fell for less. Just like i fell for you.

It's not who you are It's not who you know It's not what you are It's just what shows. It's not where you are It's who you're with It's not when you're here It's what you've missed

At first i thought it sounded like he was singing to a girl who was unfaithful and cheated on him. I guess what made me think that was:

"Knowing inside if I was not there. You'd be somewhere else. With somebody else."

    &&

"It's not where you are It's who you're with It's not when you're here It's what you've missed."

I don't know. I'm probably wrong. Just posting what I thought at first.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
