Runnin them all away (x8)

And when they stop
you see the hand thay carries
Brought on by what they refuse to believe
And when they stop
formidable adversary
Their conscience foraged to their greed

By virtue of the definition of the heady riser
He will move to his position of power
To put things he has not seen
In a position to his dreams
He will not call till he know them true

And they come for the leaders but we say we never lead
they come for the believers but we say we never believe
they come for the healers but we say we never touch no hand
And theyll come for us theyll be no one left to stand

Dont need no heady riser
Dont need no heady riser
Riser……
Dont need no heady riser

Runnin us all away(2X)
Runnin them all away(6x)

And when they stop
you see the hand they carries
Brought on by what they refuse to believe
And when they stop
Unformidable adversary
Their conscience foraged(formaged) to their greed

By virtue of the definition of the heady riser
He will move to his position of power
To put things he has not seen
In a position to his dreams
He will not call till he know them true

And they come for the leaders but we say we never lead
And they come for the sleepers but we say we never dream
And they come for the healers but we say we never touch no man(hand)
And theyll come for us theyll be no one left to stand
Yea theyll come for us theyll be no one left to stand

Dont need no heady riser
Dont need no heady riser
Riser
Dont need no heady riser

And they come for us dreamers but we say we never sleep
And they come for us tellers but we say we never speak
And they come for us stealers but we say never rob no man
And theyll come for us theyll be no one left to stand

Dont need no heady riser
dont need no heady riser
riser
dont need no heady riser
riser
dont need no heady riser
riser

    General CommentMakes sense.

in addition, i think riser is also used to mean the device by which people of power ("heady") use to stand on while making promises that one day they will realize are not possible.

I made a short film about this song once. Yes, I am a nerd.

General Commentthe song is clearly about the unlawful rises of power in the world.
but there is also a part talking about how we react=
    where the chorus saying:
"And they come for the leaders but we say we never lead
they come for the believers but we say we never believe" ect.
is referring to how we don't stick up for others, and just say we are not what you are looking for.
    then where it states:
"And theyll come for us theyll be no one left to stand"
it is saying how we didn't stand up for anybody so nobody is left to stand for us.

My InterpretationI agree with what has been said before me (the relation of Heady Riser to one who unlawfully or imorally rose to power I hadn't thought of but makes a lot of sense. What hasn't been mentioned is how much Chad references a very popular WW2 poem about Nazi occupation...

"When the Nazis came for the communists,
    I remained silent;
    I was not a communist.

Then they locked up the social democrats,
    I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
    I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
    I did not speak out;
    I was not a Jew.

    When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out for me"

Both the Poem and the song, Heady Riser, reference the concept that if we do not stand together we simply will not stand for long. If we keep averting the blame elsewhere and not take action we have no one to blame but ourselves.

General CommentChad explained this at a show one time.

He said its about people rising to power under their own ego, rather than what people think.

    Hence the term, "Heady" Riser
