Up 'til four, and it ain't New Year's
Fucked up on Rhapsody and root beer
Got a brain, but I can't use it
Living on just air and music

Well, you don't have to tell me
I know this can't be healthy

But I am not your kind of dope fiend
I have my own kind of protein
I just can't get my mom to believe me
I'm not on drugs
But I probably should be

These days I am in fragments
These days I am a magnet
Seems like when I walk the streets
Everybody wants a piece of me

Hands full and pockets empty
The deck is stacked against me

Right about now I should be scared
It's all coming down, but I still can't care
And I get so stuck when I get in deep
I don't know what to do
But fall asleep

Or stay up 'til four when it ain't New Year's
Fucked up on Rhapsody and root beer
Got a brain, but I can't use it
Living on just air and music

Well, you don't have to tell me
I know this can't be healthy

But I am not your kind of dope fiend
I have my own kind of protein
I just can't get my mom to believe me
I'm not on drugs
But I probably should be

i relate to this except i am a drug addict. but my addiction is because of my bass guitar. i wait every night till my mum goes to bed before i sneak out the back door to suck down a spliff and then spend the following hours playing my bass. i rarely make it to 4 though. normally pass out between 1 and 2

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Midnight
Ed Sheeran
“Midnight” is a song about finding a love that is so true that it provides a calming feeling through every storm. Ed Sheeran reflects on his good fortunes in landing someone with such peace and support and speaks of not fearing the dark days because he knows they’ll all end in the safety nets of her arms. “Well, good morning there / What a way to start the day / With everything laid bare,” Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse, enthusiastic to be waking up beside his woman. He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.
