Comes a time when you're driftin'
Comes a time when you settle down
Comes a light, feelin's liftin'
Lift that baby right up off the ground

Whoa, this old world keeps spinnin' round
It's a wonder tall trees ain't layin' down
There comes a time

You and I, we were captured
We took our souls and we flew away
We were right, we were giving
That's how we kept what we gave away

General CommentYou live for awhile. You sail happily on the seas of reality, giving no thought to how or why you make your way. Then you have a moment of deep contemplation, and you hear this song, and you sing along even though you've never heard it before. You know the words if you have lived enough. They are the lyrics that you were so clumsily, lovingly dancing to your entire life, though you never knew it until Neil Young sang it for you. That's the meaning of this song. Listen, and love it.

General CommentI can't believe no one has commented on this beautiful classic. Neil Young all the way.

I think this song is about how people move on and change but still stay true to their friends, which is extremelly important.

This song means a lot to me. We used to always play it on the last night of summer camp at the final camp fire. I laso listened to it when I said bye to my university friends who I wasn't going to see for a few months, but will see again and keep our friendships going

General CommentI can't believe only four people have commented on this song. It's one of my all-time favorites and it's on the Neil Young Greatest Hits album, which is the first I bought after a high school friend told me I should check out Neil Young. Actually this is probably the first song I heard, I listened to this one, Heart of Gold, and Harvest Moon on Youtube before deciding I liked him and getting the Greatest Hits CD. Beautiful melody.

General CommentI would love to comment on the beauty of this song, but I'd be holding back tears going into details of memories that surface when listening to Neil. Neil is a perfect human being and he has served me more good than any other human being has in my life. God bless Neil, you beautiful soul

General Commentlzphishhead, thats so true. Its such a short and simple song but when i listen to it it evokes alot of emotion.

Its about life and how fast it goes by. Drifing as a teenager, lost in this big world, settling down with the girl you love and holding your baby for the first time. The greatest moments in life put into verses.

    Amazing Song.

General Commentmy dad loves neil young, plays him alot when hes in a bit of a mood. My mom isnt that big of a fan, but i know that she loves this song, and it makes my dad happy. Its nice, with so many familys splitting up, parents getting divorced, not understanding how to hold it together, its really nice to know my parents love listening to this song.theyve been together for 32 years

General CommentI believe that this song is about finding your soulmate as you drift through life. Once you realize that you find your true soulmate you can experience the most wonderful thing that life has to offer "creating life with the birth off a child". Being happy with the choices you have made. He is reminding us all life goes by so quickly "this old world keeps spinning round, it's a wonder tall trees aren't laying down". "There comes a time", don't miss it.

General CommentLove this song so much. Not crazy about the studio version but there's a live version of this song by Neil and Crazy Horse on the live album Live Rust.
