Oh, I want to be pretty in a great big city
And oh I'd like to be so pretty in this great big city
And isn't it a pity if you're not the prettiest thing in the world
When you live in a great big city?

Lovely eyes, lovely nose
Adorable mouth and beautiful teeth
Oh, you've got the most fantastic shoulders
Delicious lips and adorable hips

Oh, oh, oh, you're so pretty
Pretty, pretty, pretty
Pretty, pretty, pretty

I'd like to look like you
But I am me and you are you
And if I looked in the mirror for a thousand years
I'd never transform myself to look like you

You walk down the street and you look pretty
You sit on the bus and you look pretty
You sit outside cafes and you look pretty
You're pretty, you're pretty, you're pretty, you're pretty

In fact, there's no place you go
No lights you see
That doesn't make you look even more pretty

Heaven (I feel like I'm in heaven, I feel like I'm in heaven)
I'm in heaven (I feel like I'm in heaven)
Heaven (I feel like I'm in heaven)

Somebody told me the other day
Even pretty girls
Well, they can have a hard time
'Cause they don't know why someone likes them

They say, is it my legs?
Is it my lips?
Is it my nose or is it my hips?
Or is it my my my my my personality?
My generous, loving, soaring free spirit?

You're pretty, you're pretty
You're pretty, you're pretty, you're pretty
You're pretty, you're pretty, you're pretty
You're pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty

Oh, you're pretty, you know who I mean
You're so pretty and you make me wanna scream

Heaven (I feel like I'm in heaven, I feel like I'm in heaven)
I'm in heaven (I feel like I'm in heaven, I feel like I'm in heaven)
Heaven (I feel like I'm in heaven, I feel like I'm in heaven)
I'm in heaven (I feel like I'm in heaven, I feel like I'm in heaven)
Heaven
Heaven

You make wanna scream
You make me feel like i'm livin' inside a dream
You make me want you
And you know that it's true
'Cause I want you here in my mirror, baby
Yeah yeah yeah yeah

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
Beauty is within
Sometimes I feel when I kick up my heels in the sun
I'm the loveliest one

I'm the loveliest one

When I look at you (I feel like I'm in heaven)
When I look at you (I feel like I'm in heaven)
When I look at you
I'm in heaven
Heaven (I feel like I'm in heaven)
Heaven (I feel like I'm in heaven)
Heaven (I feel like I'm in heaven)
Heaven (I feel like I'm in heaven)
(Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty)
Heaven (I feel like I'm in heaven)
(Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty)
Heaven (I feel like I'm in heaven)
(Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty)
Heaven (I feel like I'm in heaven)
Heaven (I feel like I'm in heaven)
(???)
Heaven (I feel like I'm in heaven)
Heaven (I feel like I'm in heaven)

i can relate to this so well...i wish that it wasnt sung in such a sarcastic way, even though that's the mood theyre going for..i wish it was more beautiful and sad and reflective

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Bron-Y-Aur Stomp

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
