In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.
Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
The harp sounds make me think of the butterflies you feel inside you when you really like someone. My interpretation of the song was that by repeating "still going on" he was referring to his feelings for someone. By asking, "What's going on?" He was trying to identify and name what exactly he was feeling. Also, that the declaration of "It's you." He was answering his own question. You are what is going on inside of me.
It is about the present moment. What is going on? You are going on. Reality is the dynamic expression of you. You are creating all of this moment to moment. Relax and delight in the you'ness that is reality. Pay attention and allow it to flow on by, for it is ungraspable. :)
This song is very special, I remember getting a ride home listining to this song and watching the people and cars and nature... it was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life, however strange it was.
Not sure about the lyrics, but the music is lovely.
i believe its just bits and pieces of things said/thought in a relationship (both avey and vahsti and very observant in their lyrics) think about it whats the first thing you say to your girl/guy when you get on the phone? i almost always say "what's goin on?" or its variations (whats up, how are you, etc.) fantasmic song
Simple beautiful little song of light happiness and wonder.
i think this is a very beautiful song and i absolutely love the harp in it but i still dont really quite get what the artist was trying to get across
