The hours devour me
My life is wasted
Waiting here for you
There's nothing left of me
Lost in a void out of sync
There's nothing left to believe
The end is now I surrender
The war is over
The rain has fallen
And all that's left has blown away
Your eyes are haunted
By what you wanted
I surrender the war is over
The anger I keep for you
The bitter lessons I will keep for me
There's nothing I can do
To save you from your own hell
There's nothing left for you
The end is now I surrender
The war is over
The rain has fallen
And all that's left has blown away
Your eyes are haunted
By what you wanted
I surrender the war is over
It's over now
I can see it
I can see what you've become
I can feel it
As everything goes numb
My life is wasted
Waiting here for you
There's nothing left of me
Lost in a void out of sync
There's nothing left to believe
The end is now I surrender
The war is over
The rain has fallen
And all that's left has blown away
Your eyes are haunted
By what you wanted
I surrender the war is over
The anger I keep for you
The bitter lessons I will keep for me
There's nothing I can do
To save you from your own hell
There's nothing left for you
The end is now I surrender
The war is over
The rain has fallen
And all that's left has blown away
Your eyes are haunted
By what you wanted
I surrender the war is over
It's over now
I can see it
I can see what you've become
I can feel it
As everything goes numb

Just A Little Lovin'

I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
Magical
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
Plastic Bag

Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
I love this song, and this CD is well worth the pickup especially if you liked the first CD. This song itself seems about a breakup. I think the "war" he is referring to is the relationship. Overall it's not terribly deep, but it doesn't have to be to kick ass.
ya this is proly my fave song off the album, the album is very good to, i might see them if i decide to go to buzzfest.
I think this song is about a girl he loves and hes tired of always trying to get her to love him back and trying to keep her close to him and she keeps screwing everything up so hes giving up on her
im not entirely sure what this song means, while i do agree with DarkEternal about the breakup thing, i dont necessarily think hes the one feeling the pain of it, the lyrics r "Your eyes are haunted by what you wanted" indicating that the other person in the relationship might be feeling the pain instead of him
I agree with you both guys (I mean DarkEternal and Ocelot923). But to sum up the two of your opinions I would say that this song IS about a breakup or rather a reciprocate love: So, the guy is in love with a girl, but she cares no account for him and in the end he surrenders and stops trying, but some time later she falls in love with him, but, "as everything goes numb" he tells "the war is over". This is just how I personally see it, because this is exactly what happenned in my life recently. In my country in such cases they say "The train has gone" Cool song.
waiting for something, that should not be
In my opinion, there are lots of possibilities. Artists leave it vague intentionally so people can connect with it with what it means to them.
My interpretation: -It’s about a relationship. Most likely lover/wife/gf but could be parents, family, friend, etc
“The hours devour me My life's wasted waiting here for you There's nothing left of me Lost in a void I don't see”
-Waiting and hoping that they would come back/come back to their senses/the place they are at would change and I say come back because of the chorus and second verse
“There's nothing left to believe The end is now I surrender The war is over”
-Theres nothing left indicates there was something there to begin with. He could be referencing the hope that was there and now is gone but I believe it’s both. The war could be referring to the war between them/the struggle of the relationship but I would also say it has to do with the war inside of him is also over. Artists will also have lines that apply in multiple ways. And yes he’s giving up or letting go and letting them have their way. Could be a surrender of freeing himself but most likely a giving up due to the lyrics later.
“The rain is falling And all that's left has blown away”
-rain can sometimes be sadness or pain but it can also be a cleansing or if a washing away. Here I believe it is a cleansing/washing away because all that’s left after the rain comes down gets destroyed/blown away.
“Your eyes are haunted By what you wanted”
-This part is very interesting because the artist is indicated that he can see the pain the other person is feeling by and how they are haunted now that they got exactly what they wanted (end of relationship, end of friendship, his life being destroyed because of what they did or seeing him experiencing pain they caused, etc)
“The anger I keep for you The bitter lessons I will keep for me”
He uses uses the word anger but in the next line bitter and my guess is that the word bitter came next because he feels angry and bitter for being mistreated, the other person not trying or giving up, or whatever happened or was done. The bitter lessons line is just a way of saying, “I’m going to take everything I learned from this and remember/use it in the future to not make the same mistake again.” This is also why this seems to be a relationship that was going on for a while because “lessons” come from something going on from a while and not from something that wasn’t really there.
“There's nothing I can do To save you from your own hell”
-This is also interesting because the artist/author only mentions the haunting and pain in the other person’s eyes so most likely this is referring to that again and that he can’t do nothing to stop the pain of the mistake they made that now has backfired on them and having to live with what they did. It could be referencing that they were going through a personal hell before that he was trying to save them from and is what this song is about but doesn’t seem like it.
“There's nothing left for you”
“I can see it, I can see what you've become I can feel it, as everything goes numb”
-seeing what someone has become usually is someone referring to someone becoming a monster or mean or bad person. Also very intriguing because he describes it as he can see it in their actions not in the past but present because it’s who they became- a new type of horrible person/monster etc. But then he not only sees it, he can feel that they became this because he’s gone numb. Numb has to do with the absence of pain but often people will use it to describe feeling hollow or empty. One could say his feelings for this person go numb but he says everything goes numb so everything he felt (love, attachment, etc) is no longer there and I also say that because he also says “all that’s left has blown away” so this seems to be another way of referencing that. Everything goes numb could also be applying to his world as a whole and it could also mean that not just the love or good feelings have gone away but also the pain because he says “the war is over” however the song seems to be written more describing the pain, anger, and bitterness so more than likely this is referencing emptiness and good feelings disappearing to the point of feeling nothing inside.
My guess, it’s about a woman (wife, gf, etc.) and the relationship ending and her wanting everything back but it’s too late. He’s done trying to keep it alive and is giving her what she seemed to want all along and she sees the mistake now that was made and it’s causing her pain/haunting but it’s too late.
For me, I feel I connect with it as I can appt it to the relationship with my mother, but also my father. Trying for years to have a relationship and have her love and attention but my mother was “done parenting you kids. You had your time and now it’s mine” but here we are years later and she’s regretting it and being left alone wants the relationship but it’s too late because I accepted years ago that, while my mom is still alive, the person she was/the mother part of her died and so there’s nothing left but hollow and empty feelings as if talking to a stranger. The butter lessons I learned was to be independent, to not be as trusting, to not let myself be taken advantage of, to never treat others that way and if I have kids some day to not repeat that.
