This is about bronies. They communicate by stomping.
La, la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
With an envelope we'll enter buildings we might touch
I've got souvenirs but yesterday can't mean too much
Have we missed an opportunity?
Have we missed an opportunity?
Whispers, Chinese leaves a message, leaves a metaphor
For what once was gold and once was rich but now is poor
Have we missed an opportunity?
And the trees lean to lend
Can I fold you in fourteen ways to depend not defend?
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
With an envelope we'll enter buildings we might touch
I've got souvenirs but yesterday can't mean too much
Have we missed an opportunity?
Have we missed an opportunity?
Whispers, Chinese leaves a message, leaves a metaphor
For what once was gold and once was rich but now is poor
Have we missed an opportunity?
And the trees lean to lend
Can I fold you in fourteen ways to depend not defend?

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
Gentle Hour

Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.
Great version of a great song,

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
"Have we missed an opportunity?"
God, that line gets me every time. And that lovely little musical outro doesn't help of course.
Yeah, another one of my faves...
"Have we missed an oppurtunity?"
I couldn't have said it any better myself. This song has such a tranquil, bittersweet feel to it. Anyone and everyone who has lived can understand that line.
This song is a pivitol one for all kinds of mixtapes, an incredibly haunting, touching, inspiring piece of music. Simply lovely.
discovered architecture last year from a friend. got obsessed with in case we die. and now, i got the fingers crossed album.
how can a band be so awesome?

what commercial is this song on?
OH i remember, it's on the commercial where there are all the kids and it's like fast motion and there are all these objects made out of lights, like flowers and crap. OH ya crap it's like..a cell phone commercial
i have no idea what this song means but its so catchy and lovely. reminds me of sitting in a fireplace roasting marshmallows with your crush. [:
I think this song is just about how you can't go back in time, all you've got is your memories, and you're constantly wondering if you got it right.
"I’ve got souvenirs but yesterday can’t mean too much, have we missed an opportunity."
souvenirs being memories. yesterday can't mean to much because otherwise you'd just be constantly stuck in the past.
idk. thats the vibe that I got from it. definitly a brilliant song though.
