It's a night life that gets them off
So desperately they wait for the excuse of love

We live like vampires
And we, we, we love like killers
We all die like infants
And we trust like mirrors

It's the smoke and the drinks
And the smiles that it brings
It's the pain and the sex disguised as innocence

Slow suicide
Like it or not, it's what we do
Slow suicide
Like it or not, it's what we do

It's the love of guilt that forms the habit
Of being dramatically over-dramatic

We live like vampires
And we, we, we love like killers
We all die like infants
And we trust like mirrors

It's the smoke and the drinks
And the smiles that it brings
It's the pain and the sex disguised as innocence

It's the smoke and the drinks
(It's a desperate place for desperate people)
And the smiles that it brings
(To find a place for desperate heroes)
It's the pain and the sex
(A desperate place for desperate...)
Disguised as innocence
(And they sing)

Slow suicide
Like it or not, it's what we do
Slow suicide
Like it or not, it's what we do (x2)

The songs they sing are in the key of the illusion of pain
And it's irony
In the midst of lust and dropping names
The drugs, they numb and they keep us sane (x2)

Slow suicide
Like it or not, it's what we do
Slow suicide
Like it or not, it's what we do (x2)

General Commentthis song seems to be about drug use among teens, but thats just how i read it

and if i'm not mistaken, it should be "We live like vampires"

really good song though, using drugs is a slow suicide when you really think about it, but then again, wouldn't everything in life be?

General CommentThis song is amazing... go see these guys live if you get the chance. I love the name and what its all about. When you think about it, that is all life is. A slow suicide. We are just waiting around and all these things we do to ourselves only speed up the end. opps.

General Commentthis song is great. it's definitly one of their better songs. i agree with music fiend and blendar. its not just taking about drugs. its looking at the grand scheme of life and how our inevitable end is just being prolonged by our actions and our consequences. life really is a slow suicide...

General Commenti've gone through some drug issues, and this song makes a lot of sense and some of the random lyrics arent as random as they seem. I cant speak for jamisonparker, but to me "we trust like mirrors" is like, every morning you look in the mirror, and you expect that what you see is whats really there. So its like saying when you look at other people, you trust them just like you'd trust the mirror to show you what you look like, but that you actually shouldnt do that. I hope i explained that alright, anyone else got any ideas?

General Commentp.s. using the interpretation i just put up of we trust like mirrors, "we love like killers" is like your so desperate for love that you hurt those around you

General CommentTo me...."we trust like mirrors" means we only go as far as trusting ourselves...we trust who we see in the mirror.

General CommentI think I get what you all are saying with the connection to drugs, but I thought it meant love was the slow suicide. I've heard the love = suicide comparison before I heard the song...so I guess I just assumed.
