@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

/agree @ Jordorac Die Metapher bezüglich Stockhausen, Bill Gates und dem lyrischen Ich ist sehr interessant, denn Stockhausen(kulturell) und Bill Gates(wirtschaftlich) stellen jeweils die Extrempunkte der Gesellschaft dar - bezieht man dies nun auf das lyrische Ich gibt es nur wenige kleinste gemeinsame Nenner - hier der gebrochene Daumen von Carlos Santana, den alle drei nicht leiden können ohne seine Spielkunst..
Egal, was die Jungs genommen haben, um diesen Song zu schreiben, ich möchte zwei davon! "Anders als die Anderen, anders als man selbst!" - Um aussergewöhnlich zu sein, muss man auch immer ein wenig sich selbst verleugnen. Für mich handelt der Song von der Unfähigkeit die eigene durchaus spiessige Realität als interessant und individuell anzuerkennen und stattdessen immer nach etwas anderem zu streben, um sich zu differenzieren und interessant zu machen. Und dieser Zwiespalt wird auf die Spitze getrieben, indem er bei dem Mädchen mit ihrem Shirt moniert für die eigene Kunst aber reklamiert wird. Und die Erkenntnis, dass man sich lieber von den Menschen für das was man ist hassen lassen sollte als sich zu verdrehen, führt zum internen Zerwürfnis.
