In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
Now the world is getting older
There's a few things to be said
Do you believe the things they told you
Do you believe the things you've read
There's a rumour on the corner
But it's always been denied
Cause they don't want you any wiser
You're just toeing the party line
From the west side to the east side
From the north side to the south
You'll never get bad information
If you believe in the word of mouth
Look out for those who still want to hang on
Look out for those who live in the past
Get out and listen to the whisper
Because the times are changing fast
From the west side to the east side
From the north side to the south
You'll never get bad information
If you believe in the word of mouth
You don't believe the information
You don't believe it when it's denied
So when you're reading explanations
You have to read between the lines
From the west side to the east side
Through the windows I'm looking out
You'll never get bad information
If you believe in the word of mouth
There's a few things to be said
Do you believe the things they told you
Do you believe the things you've read
There's a rumour on the corner
But it's always been denied
Cause they don't want you any wiser
You're just toeing the party line
From the west side to the east side
From the north side to the south
You'll never get bad information
If you believe in the word of mouth
Look out for those who still want to hang on
Look out for those who live in the past
Get out and listen to the whisper
Because the times are changing fast
From the west side to the east side
From the north side to the south
You'll never get bad information
If you believe in the word of mouth
You don't believe the information
You don't believe it when it's denied
So when you're reading explanations
You have to read between the lines
From the west side to the east side
Through the windows I'm looking out
You'll never get bad information
If you believe in the word of mouth

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
Probably isn't about this but could these days be interpreted as being about climate change.
