Chorus:
Vanz can’t dance, but he’ll steal your money,
Watch him or he’ll rob you blind. (x 4)

Chorus

Out in the street a crowd is gatherin’,
Pushed down by the heat of the building, they’re wantin’ to dance.
Makin’ their way up the street, a boy with a pig and a radio;
Little billy can work on the crowd, put ’em into a trance,
For the little pig vanz.

Chorus

You’re watchin’ ’em dance, not a care in the world;
So billy and vanz get busy, they’re makin’ their move;
The little pig knows what to do, he’s silent and quick, just like oliver twist;
Before it’s over, your pocket is clean,
A four-legged thief paid a visit on you.

    General CommentNo. Vanz was the manager of one of Fogerty's record companies. Vanz basically ripped him off big-time. It must have been true otherwise Vanz would have sued.
    I think Vanz went as far as suing Fogerty the solo artist for plagiarism in that "Old Man Down The Road" ripped off "Run Through The Jungle", both of which were wrttten by Fogerty!

    General Comment"Vanz Kant Danz" was originally named "Zanz Kant Danz" after the chief of CCR's and John Fogerty's former record label, Saul Zaentz.
    Zaentz owned the rights to Creedence's back catalogue. He filed a suit against John Fogerty claiming that the song "Old Man Down The Road" was plagiarising CCR's "Run Through The Jungle," a song John Fogerty actually wrote!
    So Fogerty wrote "Zanz Kant Danz"; the lyrics claim Zaentz is a pig who steals people's money. Zaentz then filed a 2nd lawsuit for defamation. He won, so Fogerty had to change the name from 'Zanz' to 'Vanz.' Zaentz lost the first case though, after Fogerty brought his guitar up to the stand in court & played "Run Through The Jungle" and "Old Man Down The Road," demonstrating the differences.
    Saul Zaentz is a shrewd businessman who bought the rights to the film adaptations of Lord of the Rings in the 70s. He sold them to New Line Cinema, who made the Peter Jackson Rings trilogy, and picked up $180 million without doing anything. During this feud he remained friends with the remaining 3 former members of Creedence, including John's brother Tom Fogerty.

    My InterpretationSaul Zantz is also portrayed (accurately) in Mr. Greed. He's a foul one.
