"Mercury" as written by and Kathleen Margaret Edwards....
Want to go get high?
Mercury is parked outside
Want to take me to
The parking lot of the old high school

And it's like you said
I would've turned up dead in the car

General CommentSuch a simple song, but for the life of me, I can't decide what it means. It's so beautiful. It reminds me of when I would go to my old high-school parking lot to do just what the song says.

My InterpretationI take it to mean that Kathleen used to get high in her car, named Mercury, so often during high school that she feels now that if person this song is directed towards hadn't shown her otherwise, she would of just stayed in that car, getting high, till the day she died.

General CommentI don't interpret as she would have kept doing that her whole life i.e. "'til the day she died", but that repetitively getting high and the lifestyle would have killed her. Something like seeing an OD in her future if she would have made that choice
