You know that I would love to see you next year
I hope that I am still alive next year
You magnify the way I think about myself
Before you came, I rarely thought about myself

Behind your veil I found the body underneath
Inside your head were things I'd never thought about
You know that I would love to see you next year
I hope that I am still alive next year

What's my view? Well, how am I supposed to know?
Write a review, well, how objective can I be?
What's my view? Well, how am I supposed to know?
Write a review, well, how objective can I be?

You know that I would love to see you in that dress
I hope that I will live to see you undress
The everyday is part of what consumes me
The hate I feel is part of what fuels me

I testify to having guilty feelings
I must confess, I'd like to be caught stealing
You know that I would love to see you in that dress
I hope that I will live to see you undress

What's my view? Well, how am I supposed to know?
Write a review, well, how objective can I be?
What's my view? Well, how am I supposed to know?
Write a review, well, how objective can I be?

I like to wait to see how things turn out
If you apply some pressure
I like to wait and see how things turn out
If you apply some pressure

What happens when you lose everything?
You just start again, you start all over again
What happens when you lose everything?
You just start again, you start all over again

I like to wait to see how things turn out
If you apply some pressure
I like to wait to see how things turn out
If you apply some pressure

What happens when you lose everything?
You just start again, you start all over again
What happens when you lose everything?
You just start again, you start all over again
What happens when you lose everything?
You just start again, you start all over again

What happens when you lose some pressure?
Apply some pressure, you lose some pressure
Apply some pressure, you lose some pressure
Apply some pressure, you lose some pressure
What happens when you lose some pressure?
Apply some pressure, you lose, oh, everything
Will you just start again?

You know that I would love to see you next year
I hope that I am still alive next year
You know that I would love to see you in that dress
I hope that I will live to see you undress

It's about how we invest a lot of ourselves in something, it backfires and we back off, and then we move on ("start all over again"). Pretty much saying, if you invest to much in something good, you forget it can get shitty, and when it does you are forced to back off. By the way, best song on the album, love the video, the band is my new white stripes right now. Oh, white stripes, why''d you fuck up so bad?

I looove this song. Heard them perform it at V festival, where I was with a guy who'd recently broken up with me after 13months of dating, and the words "what happens when you lose everything, you just start again, you start all over again" really helped me feel better! Like I actually could cope and survive. =) xx

    Song Meaning

I think it's the state of mind after a long term relationship and being scared to get close to someone again (apply some pressure) he still has feelings for this girl (you know that I would like to see ya next year) but he knows that he has to move on and find someone new, even though he's scared to get close to someone in case they hurt him (what happens when you lose every thing? you just start again, start all over again.) he misses what they had and wants to be close to her but knows that he will never have her again (you know that i would love to see you in that dress, i hope that i will live to see you undress) he's confused and doesn't know where to place his feelings (what;s my view, well how am i supposed to know, write to review, well how objective can i be?). he learned so much in the relationship and this girl taught him to come out of his shell and be himself and he doesnt understand why she's given up on him "behind your veil, i found a body underneath, inside your head, things i never thought about). so all in all dylan if you are reading this, you did all of the above to be and i hope you burn in hell with whatever whore you have this week, since you've had like, four in 6 weeks... well i kept you "faithful" (if you dont count all ypur texts to the other girl) almost six months, do i get a medal for putting up with your bull?????? "how'd ya feel? i found a body underneath!"

Does anyone else find the lines 'I testify to having guilty feelings/I must confess, i'd like to get caught stealing' deeply sexy?

this is fantastic. 'you know that i would love to see you next year', ha. i love this song lots. i have this summer job and i have this love/hate relationship with one of the lads who works there and i hate him but i have this strange attraction to him too, but cos this song is quite ironic and not soppy, it's sharp it's just the way i feel about him it's perfect. and the bit where it says: 'id like to see how things turn out if you apply some pressure' it goes for him cos he's such a 'hey, im a charming gorgeous man' type of lad who can get what he wants and i'd just love to see him have to try and do something instead of flirting his way through it.

i can only R.A.V.E. about this new band! i´m so glad to have seen them in concert in february. they´re gonna be huge, really, and they fully deserve it. anybody heard their demo recordings? absolutely outstanding stuff! can´t wait to hear the finished album. MAXIMO PARK make bloc party and any other new british band look like boyscouts and boring old farts. be prepared for their debut album to be "the album of the year" - no fooling! re: APPLY SOME PRESSURE - the guitar riff will become a classic. and those lyrics just HIT me - "You know that i would love to see you next year / i hope that i am still alive next year" - Paul Smith, thank you so much!

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
