"The Monkey's Back" as written by Justin Andrew Harris, Daniel Frederic Seim and Brent Knopf....
On the monkey's back
He paved the way
But I lost track
Seize the day
I want my way
But the monkey's back
He grew such finger nails
He could scratch
He could impale
Never fails
T-r-y

So I fed him poisoned grapes
He spit the seeds into my face
And he escapes
They germinate
Weave into my skin
Sprout the seeds chrysanthemum
Pull the weeds from my chin
And we begin

On this monkey's back
He paved the way
But I lost track
Seize the day
I'm on my way
But the monkey's back
Grew such finger nails
He scratch he could impale
Never fail
T-r-y

So I fed him poisoned grapes
He spit the seeds into my face
He escapes
Some weave into my skin
Sprout the seeds chrysanthemum
Pull the weeds from my chin
We begin

General CommentThe earth is trying (in vain) to get the monkey (humanity) off its back.

General Commentall lyrics aside, this song is musically amazing. theres a wonderfully contrasting feel throughout the song, going from jazzy to almost hardcore rock, and into a mellow soothing riff. monomena is a one of a kind band

General CommentYeah... it sure sounded like "De-ar wife" but ... I think "try" fits the context better.

Btw, I really liked the "special effects" at the end of this song. It sounded soo... strange and mysterious, like some special ceremony at some cult thing. =D

Like... the poor sod got bitten by the monkey and bam... Zombie rising!!! Then dun... dun... dun!!!!

I wish I knew what they were singing, though.

General CommentThink it might be about heroin. Being on the monkeys back being on the drug. The gruesome fingernails are for how the drug is so addicting and that it digs in. Not sure about the poison grapes part though.
