and with aplomb she crumpled me like paper and like a bomb she made an unskyscraper and every day we are tapering down

strawberry jam, and strawberry jam, you know
that's just the way I am so love me back
love me back, you could have diluted that attack, but
I don't mind, and it's about time and I don't have to wait in line to be knocked down
I can get that anywhere in town.

Without sound we are
watch this old movie and from the ground to the sky to our doom we are wise as wickets whom things pass inexorably through

General CommentDefinitely my favorite from The Fine Print...not surprisingly, Jerry/Tycho has a way with words here like in all other endeavors he tackles. Plus, I learned the meaning of aplomb thanks to this song! As for meaning, it sounds as though it's about a man who was rejected brazenly ("It's Brazen Bran"!) by a woman, yet he tries to reason with her and tell her that he cannot compromise himself, regardless of the countless rejections he may have already faced. Plainly though, it seems like a whole "I like Grape Jam on my toast, and you'll have to accept that if you want to be with me." sort of deal that comes about from being around someone so much that the little differences like what foods we eat start to come between us.
