"Angel" as written by Rex K. Rideout and Will Downing....
Angel
Put sad wings around me now
Protect me from this world of sin
So that we can rise again

Oh angel
We can find our way somehow
Escaping from the world we're in
To a place where we began
And I know we'll find
A better place and piece of mind
Just tell me that it's all you want
For you and me

Angel won't you set me free
Angel
Remember how we chased the sun
Then reaching for the stars at night
As our lives had just begun
When I close my eyes
I hear your velvet wings and cry
I'm waiting here with open arms
Oh can't you see
Angel shine your light on me

Angel we'll meet once more I'll pray
When all my sins are washed away
Hold me inside your wings and stay
Angel take me far away

Put your sad wings around me now
Angel take me far away
Put sad wings around me now
So that we can rise again
Put sad wings around me now
Angel take me far away
Put sad wings around me now
So that we can rise again

General CommentI'm very disappointed in the low turn-out on the Judas Priest pages.
Especially right when the new album comes out and it's rumored that it sold 70,000 copies in it first week in America alone.

Agreed. I almost prefer this song, too.

To me, it seems this song is about someone losing all hope in anything tangible, anything mortal. So they turn to this angel, which could indicate some kind of spirituality, some kind of belief in an afterlife. Placing your hope in something you cannot see or fathom in your mortal skin. Such a lovely ballad. The entire album is amazing in my eyes.

Diamonds and Rust is awesome, but you can't really call it Priest cos its a Joan Baez cover. I'd say Priest's best ballad is Dreamer Deceiver.

General CommentThis song could have been written for the "Sad wings" album. And, yes, the chorus made me think of that. Listening to it, though, I can hear it recorded with the same kind of late 70's sound and it would have fit perfectly on the album. A beutiful tune that builds to a perfect crecendo. Great!
