"Back From The Dead" as written by and Peter/barat Doherty....
I heard it said
You had come back from the dead
You were playing so fine
Scooping up the soul of the wine
Now courage my boy
When they look you in the eye
Try not to look too scummy
If you need some money
And you want their money

Now I know
This ain't no happy place to be
You know they're nice around me
You know they're nice about me
And everyone agrees

About what's won in a year from here, my friend
Promises, promises
You've heard it all before

But nobody ever
Ever get me more

Oh yes courage my boy
When you look them in the eye
That they laugh if they try to be funny

All along
Belong
You're still my son
And coin my words
Oh it's absurd how you get so
Very old, man
Typical tan
Took me in hand
To

Hour
Banged or bruised

General CommentThis could be about Peter recovering from the 'dead' which probably refers to his first stint in prison, and when he was originally booted out of the libs for robbing carls flat

General Commenthe uses "Shoop shoop, shoop de-lang de-lang" at the end of the song, which was used in the Libertines song, What Katie Did, so "Back From The Dead" may be his song for recovering from the Libertines.

General CommentI gotta agree with SkateOrDie. It makes me memorise the good ol' time (wheter they were good nor they weren't doesn't really play a role)

General Commentthis is probably my favorite babyshambles song.

for some odd reason it makes me think of pirates, but i guess pete is kinda like a modern day pirate.

it makes me think of recovering and starting new but always having something reminding you of your past following behind you.

General Commentthese lyrics are incorrect...at least, different from the babyshambles album version, because that's the version i have, and it's wrong.

General Commenti think it might be about him being a rent-boy. like, for example "try not to look to scummy if you want some money". it was just an idea i had. it may be many things.
also: "Laugh if they try to be funny Because you need their money now". the "they" is probably his customers (who were men).

General CommentYeh i agree with carl4pete i think parts of the song are about him being a rent-boy. Quite a desperate song, the places that drug addiction can lead to. "I keep it in reach, Keep it in the fridge" is about him hiding loads of money he stole of this guy in this fridge to set up a drug deal i think.
