    General CommentThis tune is so haunting. Here the lyrics are not translated, but basically it's about passing into the later stages of life, all the fun years are behind you and what is there to show for it? Once you know the meaning, just enjoy the beautiful phonics of the lyrics and the music. Great trans-cultural song.

    "he writes to the women of France, day and night, hoping they'll respond"
    "what fun, what dance ... all without him"
    "there is no response, but that's not so bad, as he had fun a long, long time ago"

    Song MeaningI write sweet notes to all of the girls of France
    I hope they reply
    I swore I would be happy before the end of the year.
    I write sweet notes to all of the girls of France
    Every day and every night
    But by the end of the year, I'm still alone in my bed.

    Nobody misses me
    But it's alright;
    I've already had a good time.
    A good time, in the past.

    I think of her with much sadness
    When the moon is full.
    What party, what dance, and what song is going on without me?
    The evening begins like an old song, but I can't sing;
    I forgot the melody years ago.

    Nobody misses me
    But it's alright;
    I've already had a good time.
    A good time, in the past.

    I've already had a good time.
    A good time, in the past.
