    General Commentif you think the album, or this song in particular was made to make people's "trips" better, you should try listening to the lyrics, if you can get your head around all the big words. This whole album is obviousley a hell of a lot better than a little flashing-colored trip.

    My InterpretationHow About this Idea:

    Everyone is free to be able to choose their own perceptions of the world around them, any color they like. We all take in information and see the things we see subjectively creating our own interpretations. If we take in all of these interpretations and perceptions and are open to the vast colors around us, then we are free not only from the world, but from ourselves. Never has an instrumental song created such a strong and empowering message. And never has a song opened up our minds as much as this song. We all know of our five senses, but we all have a sixth. Most people don’t have the strength of their sixth sense as much as others. Like the light going through the top of the prism, out comes six colors, the six senses. Listen to this song loudly and concentrate. Does it make you feel different? Are the surroundings around you different? Music has been fascinated with this idea for ever now and I can’t understand how the masses are missing it and missing out. Be one with the world, we all have to find our place ourselves on our journey that is life. What is the reason you are here? We shouldn’t focus as much about what political system is right, what religion is right, but what do we feel is right and how are we going to go about every day to be a human being on course to our purpose? Love yourself and the world. Empower yourself. Be like the kids in Midnight City. And soon you will be saying to yourself, hurry up world because we are dreaming. Dreaming of a new future, one that is hopefully better than the past.

    General Commentone more thing. there is no way i could explain to anyone what goes on in my head...i firmly belive that no one REALLY understands anyone, or anything. whether you agree with that statement or not, try this: imagine that to be fact, then observe the world. it will make sense. trust me. well, what makes sense is that nothing in fact makes sense, and that everyone and everything is insane, yet somehow we manage to get through it. as the crazy voice in between 'money' and 'us and them' says, "why would anyone do anything?"

    General CommentIf you people knew the concept of the album you'd understand. Every song is one of the obstacles man faces in life. The problems that eclipse the sun. Easy rundown.

    Speak To Me/Breathe = Life ( More so the consequences of rushing life, not appreciating it. )
    On The Run = Expediency
    Time = Time
    The Great Gig In The Sky = Death
    Money = Money
    Us And Them = War
    Any Colour You Like = Drugs
    Brain Damage = Lunacy
    Eclipse = Climax to ending.

    General CommentIts actually about the illusion that you have a choice when, really, there is none.

    General CommentFirst of all no Pink Floyd song with ever belong to a porno, no matter how classy it is.

    Second of all I think that the DSOTM cd is about how unnatural our world and society has become from what we, as humans, truly want. We subconsciously want an environment where we can be free and creative and compassionate and conscious. But all our high-strung, selfish world pushes for is brutish energy directed onto a straight path leading to "success" and "happiness" (really just wealth and vain satisfaction) The things that drive us towards this are worrying about time, our death, money, etc. The second song isn't called "on the run" for no reason. Our world has got us all on the run in an environment that basically sucks.

    So, that being said, I think that this song could be about the illusion that we are happy (this kind of idea has been talked about already). I think Waters might be trying to say that as long as our world is the way it is we cant ever be truly happy.
    This could be why the guy at the end of eclipse says "you know there really is no dark side of the moon...in fact its all dark". The dark side represents insanity and, well, if its all dark then its inevitable that we'll all go insane trapped in this world.

    Umm sorry if that doesnt exactly tie into this song. I think its a general DSOTM idea.

    General CommentWell, according to Waters, the song was inspired by seeing people auctioning stuff off of the back of a truck and repeating the line "any colour you like... they're all blue" Which I take to meaning like, you're presented with a choice, but there's no choice in reality. It has nothing to with drugs. Nothing. nothing. nothing. nothing. and the prism on the front of the album? it was chosen only because the members of the band liked it.

    General Commentthis song is about thinking you have a choice but you really dont. this is expressed by more than just the title. the first half of the song repeats the same few notes on the keyboard except they play it faster, slower, backwards and forwards to create the illusion of listening to different things. it cleverly shows how people are mislead into thinking they are decididing how their life will run but that is not the case as societies pressures force you to take a certain path.

    General CommentThis song is a great experience on acid. I saw vibrant colors-the song, itself, just sort of "sounds" colorful (but I do have mild synesthesia)-but it's still a good trip song, as is the whole album.

    The song is about colors-that's all. It's supposed to make you think colors and trippy shit.

    General CommentI agree with chiron090. This song is about how you have an illusion of several options though your choice has already been made. The variation in the guitar says it all. Easily one of the most amazing instrumentals of all time!
