"Feeling a Moment" as written by and Grant Nicholas....
Feeling the moment the slip away
Losing direction you're losing faith
You're wishing for someone
Feeling it all begin to slide
Am I just like you?
All the things you do can't help myself

How do you feel when there's no sun?
And how will you be when rain clouds come and pull you down again?
How do you feel when there's no one?
Am I just like you?

Turning to face what you've become
Bury the ashes of someone
Broken by the strain
Trying to fill that space inside
Am I just like you?
All the things you do can't help myself

How do you feel when there's no sun?
And how will you be when rain clouds come and pull you down again?
How do you feel when there's no one?
Am I just like you?
All the things you do

Don't ever feel
that you're alone
I'll never let you down
I'll never leave you dry
Don't fall apart
Don't let it go
Carry the motion
Carry the motion back to me (to me)

Feeling the moment the slip away
Feeling the moment the slip away

So I'm just like you

How do you feel when there's no sun?
And how will you be when rain clouds come and pull you down again?
How do you feel when there's no one?
Am I just like you?

General CommentThis song I think is a direct reference (like so many of Feeder's songs these days) to the suicide of drummer Jon Lee. After reading their interview in Q Magazine last month, it's clear that Grant Nicholas is still very much mourning the loss of his best mate, and this song clearly shows it.

I think this song is about Grant's continuing search for peace of mind and a direction in his life away from Jon's ghost since his suicide. I think the lines "Am I just like you", and "Turning to face what you've become" are references to how lost and messed up he still feels about the whole situation, and how he wonders if this is how Jon felt before he died, and whether it'd just be easier to end it all (morbid, I know...). The lines:

    "Buried the ashes of someone
    Broken by the Strain
Trying to fill that space inside "

are obviously talking about the emptiness he feels from his loss.

I think on a more general level the song tries to convey a sense that we all suffer together, and to not feel alone because there's always someone willing to help you out of whatever mess you feel you've gotten yourself into:

"Don't ever feel that you're alone
    I'd never let you down
I'd never leave you dry "

Grant expresses regret that Jon didn't talk to him more before he decided to commit suicide, and I think this song tries to touch people on that level, that talking can turn things around.

The chorus talks about the feelings of loneliness and depression.

This is a great song that really touched me and I think the vocals and lyrics really convey a sense of the sadness that Grant still carries with him. The high-pitched 'ooo's' at the beginning seem haunting almost. In my books it's right up there with 'comfort in sound', another song written about the same struggles. Feeder rock!!

    General Commenttotally agree with you.

also read the Q interview. and the kerrang one. Jon's suicide screwed him up BIG time. most, if not all their songs relate to jon in one way or another nowadays.

best song on album. they true kick ass!

General CommentI think this about Jon Lee's suicide.
Or more specifically the state of mind he was in before he off'd himself.
I kind of get the impression this is some of the stuff Grant Nicholas would have liked to have said to Jon, had he known the state of mind he was in at the time.

General CommentI think the title fits this idea aswell.

The main message of this song is one of 'however bad you feel right now, your not alone in this, I will always be here for me when you need me', and how Grant wishes he could have expressed this to Jon.

The title is about how this kind of thing needs to be said, before the moment passes, because the opportunity may never come again.

General CommentThey used this song to do a tribute to Schapele Corby on one of the radio stations here in Western Australia, it was one of the most moving things I have ever heard even if I don't follow the case myself. This song is AWESOME and the clip rocks!

General CommentI think that Grant almost blames himself for Jon's suicide as he didn't talk to him about it
