There'll be no strings to bind your hands
Not if my love can't bind your heart
And there's no need to take a stand
For it was I who chose to start
I see no need to take me home
I'm old enough to face the dawn

Just call me angel of the morning, (angel)
Just touch my cheek before you leave me, baby
Just call me angel of the morning, (angel)
Then slowly turn away

Maybe the sun's light will be dim
And it won't matter anyhow
If morning's echo says we've sinned
Well, it was what I wanted now
And if we're victims of the night
I won't be blinded by the light

Just call me angel of the morning, (angel)
Just touch my cheek before you leave me, baby
Just call me angel of the morning, (angel)
Then slowly turn away
I won't beg you to stay with me
Through the tears of the day, of the years
Baby, baby, baby
Just call me angel of the morning, (angel)

I think this song is pretty self-explanatory. I first saw it in an episode of Friends and I fell in love with it, 'cause Chrissy Hynde sung it and like every kind of emotion poured out of her. I love this song. Like seriously. I think it says everything... how helpless you feel when someone leaves you, and also how you feel strong enough to carry on. Brilliant.

This song is about a woman who is mature enough to handle a "one night stand".

    Song Meaning

"And if we're victims of the night/I won't be blinded by the light." In other words, if we die before sunrise, that's cool, because I won't have to live with my raw grief. It IS one of those one-night stands - the kind you don't get over for years. What would life be without 'em?

The song is about premarital sex. The song was written in the 1960's when, at that time premarital sex was viewed as taboo. It has nothing to do with a one night stand; her being dumped, or slutty. Go to "singfacts" and read up on what the song writer and his explanation to the meaning of the song.

i dont believe this song is truly about a "one night stand" bc she says towards the end "through the tears of the day, of the years baby" i think its about a woman who was in lovebut he didnt feel the same way anymore and she new it was going to end oneday and she jus didnt know how to stop it, but she can let him go and try and move on.

The second to last section is "Just call me angel of the morning angel, just touch my cheek before you leave me oh baby, just call me angel of the morning angel, then slowly turn away, I won't beg you to stay, with me, through the tears of the pain, of the years, oh baby baby baby baby"

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
