Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
When the siren's flash is gone
And we're left to carry on
All the memories are too few
When the pastor's music plays
And that casket rolls away
I could live again if you
Just stay alive for me
Please stay now, you left me here alone
It's the end of the line
Please stay, I can't make it on my own
Make it on my own (it's the end of the line)
Whoa, it's the end of the line, whoa
Now that you are dead and gone
And I'm left to carry on
I could never smile 'cause you
Won't stay alive for me
Please stay now, you left me here alone
It's the end of the line
Please stay, I can't make it on my own
Make it on my own (it's the end of the line)
Whoa, it's the end of the line, whoa
Finally
Your final resting day
Is without me
I weep
And think of brighter days
What about me?
You can't take back the one mistake
That still lives on after life it takes
In that one day that changed our lives
And bitter memories are left behind
You can't take back the one mistake (whoa)
That still lives on after life it takes
In that one day that changed our lives (whoa)
And bitter memories are left behind, oh yeah
Please stay now, you left me here alone (whoa)
It's the end of the line
Please stay, I can't make it on my own (whoa)
Make it on my own (it's the end of the line)
Please stay now, you left me here alone (whoa)
It's the end of the line

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
I think its written about one of their friends who died in an auto accident, but i'm not sure and if anyone does know, post it, cuz i need to know for this english thing where we got to pick a song and talk about what it alludes to, thanx
i think that this song is about one of dexters best friend/brother/girlfriend/wife/whatever that killed himself
One of my close friends killed himself two years ago, and listening to this song was a way I could get out my feelings, most of which I didn't understand. The Offspring has a talent for making their music sound great, so that's enough, but if you listen to the lyrics, most of them are really deep and have a personal meaning. This song still makes me cry, but it helped me deal, and I'm glad Dexter is putting out such great poetry.
Awesome song, deff. about someone close committing suicide. u cannot deny the pure emotiong dexter brings to the mic on this one
i love this song....and it meant a lot to me when me and one of my close friends were suicidal. it helped me to realise that i wasnt the only one going through the shit i was trying to deal with. keep it up!
Sounds to me like it's about a friend who commit suicide.... I might add more later
yeah, i agree w/ pinkfloydrulez. it sounds like its about someone he knew that was close to him that commited suicide. possibly his wife that died. the lines that make me think its about suicide are: "I could live again if you could Just stay alive for me" "I could never smile cause you Won't stay alive for me" these lines both say that the person can never be happy again because that person decided to go on without them. "You can't take back, the one mistake That still lives on after life it takes" after you kill yourself, you cant take it back and everyone is left to live w/ the tragedy of your death.
good song.
This song is awesome, but (looks like there is a typo in the lyrics) my version of this song starts with: When the siren's flash is gone And we're left to carry on All the memories are to few..........
Yea mine too acid rain drops... Anyway an excellent song helped me cope with the death a my friends dad,and my own problems as well. I would leave my friends to deal with such a horrid problem that would scar them for life. Now that you are dead and gone and i'm lest to carry on all the momories are to few. Whoa to emotional sorry guys!
In my oppinion one of the greatest offspring songs ever. great guitar, drums, and lyrics. Just a cry out for a loved one i think, don't know the whole history of the offspring but one of them probably had something happen to them when they came up with it.
