Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

absolutely RUINED this song
i agree totally wrecked a great song
Jim Morrison is rolling in his grave.
I'm all for remixing old songs, but not when its done extreamly crappyly which is most of the time
I think it's cool. Considering the video game he remade it for. It suits Need For Speed Underground 2. One of my favorite tracks to drive on the game to besides Queens Of The Stoneage. If you take out the parts to the originnal song or have never heard the original song and just listen to Snoop, it sounds good.
I think the remix is ok. I love how Jim sounds in the song with the beat in the background, snoops rap kinda gets old after u listen a few times. I just love how
"Like a dog without a bone an actor out on loan"
sounds in this version.
i look at this song on its own merrits, rather than think of it as a remix. i love the doors version. and i love this version. its so loungey and pimped out. not as good as the original, but rad none the less.
When I first heard this, I was pissed. But eventually I started to like it. It has a cool beat, and it's just a fun song...and Jim was all for having a good time. I doubt Jim would even give a fuck anyways. At least snoop gave him credit.
im not really a rap music/snoop dogg fan but when i heard this song in NFSU2, i loved it. the original song is way better of course.
this songs changed, who's poon?
