This is our city of the dead
Another life owes its dreary head
We all, we try, we live, to lie
Doubting days, trying to get by
Waiting for the calling
Anticipation in the air
We only dream of difference
City's sleeping, unaware
Break the silence, (wake the dead)
Running through these streets alone
I can't get sleep, let's break this hole
'Cause I swear, and this will render useless
I promised you, we got this far
Not gonna stop me, gonna stop me now
I'm not hiding in shadows
Wake up
Saying that this passage is clear

You said, you said, you said
This time was gonna be different
Wake up the dead

You said, you said, you said
This time was gonna be different
Wake up the dead

Drop me the line, something stirs inside
This isn't over yet
Shake off the dirt
Swallow regret
Stop living under the weight
Living under the weight of regret
Your regrets
Don't lose hope
Your regrets
Don't lose hope
Don't let it happen to you
Don't lose hope
Which side are you gonna choose?
'Cause I'm only, I believe in seeing you rise!

We said, we said, we said
This time was gonna be different
Wake up the dead

We said, we said, we said
This time was gonna be different
Wake up the dead

We said, we said, we said
This time was gonna be different
Wake up the dead

We said, we said, we said
This time was gonna be different
Wake up the dead

definetly the most powerful song from comeback kid, if the whole album is going to be like this then its gonna rip. the chorus in the end "we said we said we said....." is the best piece of chorus singing ever put on track it gives me shivers.

this new album is so amazingly good.

"false idols fall" is the best song on it, but this comes close.

I totally agree with both comments, the end of Wake the Dead just makes you really want to go to their concert and just sing it out loud!

Amazing song, I think is about when you expect something from someone (in this is song I think is about government or politics or something like that) and they promise a lot of things, a better life or a better country and they just don't do anything, so this song is basicly about breaing the silence (BREAK THE SILENCE, WAKE THE DEAD)and wake the dead makes reference to all of us, that most of the times we stay like in a ''dead'' state, so this is a protest to ask for a change, a protest to make all those liars to make true all of their promises or scream at their faces that we want the change for that better life that they promissed, and that we won't stay quiet.

The end of this song from 'we said, we said, we said' pretty much gives you the biggest urge to shout with the song. So much energy, this song along with Partners in Crime has to be the best.

i love shout-a-longs in songs. it makes the song just that much better. i can already picture these guys playing in a small venue place with no stage, and just letting the fans scream out every word. fuckin amazing that would be.

This is an amazing song. I saw them play this song live...just wild. Any way this song has to do with their home town of winnipeg. You see the goverment has been promising to clean up the north end which is very run down and a sketchy area but has done nothing. They are telling them to clean it up and follow threw with what they promised

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

Midnight
Ed Sheeran
“Midnight” is a song about finding a love that is so true that it provides a calming feeling through every storm. Ed Sheeran reflects on his good fortunes in landing someone with such peace and support and speaks of not fearing the dark days because he knows they’ll all end in the safety nets of her arms. “Well, good morning there / What a way to start the day / With everything laid bare,” Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse, enthusiastic to be waking up beside his woman. He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.
