"Not Just Sometimes But Always" as written by and Colin/woomble Newton....
here is a long forgotten voice
I know it's not your voice
because it's always strained
I wake up hearing unfamiliar voices
convinced they're trying to explain
that if my words were clearer
then maybe I would know what I'm
trying to say
just as those long forgotten voices
disappear back into rain

If I was born the same day that you died
should that make me try
I was born the same day that you died
should that make me feel more alive
Not just sometimes but always
I know what I know
I know what I know
I know what I know

I tune the radio to drown out these voices
I don't know
I'm suddenly an empty house
that almost fills up with home
there are days and nights when I don't need to close my eyes
and they feel as real to me
like analogy in disguise

General CommentI think the last line makes more sense as, "like an elegy in disguise." According to Wikipedia, an elegy is "a mournful, melancholic or plaintive poem, especially a funeral song or a lament for the dead." This would tie in with the chorus, "If I was born the same day that you died..."

I'm not sure what the song means, but I've been thinking of it in terms of carrying on someone's legacy after they've passed away, and reflecting on the new meaning and purpose that their death might bring to a person who survives them.

General CommentIt is DEFINITELY "an elegy in disguise", it's actually one of the more obvious lyrics in the song.

Also, this line is wrong: "I'm suddenly an empty house that almost fills up with home"
The line actually is: "And suddenly an empty house, it almost fills up with home"

"I was born the same day that you died..." Possibly about a woman dying during childbirth and the child growing up with this burden hanging over him.

General CommentI love this song, its my fave along with el capitan, but the whole album is really good.
This song to me gives the impression thats the person who is hearing voices is very lost in themselves, dont know what they want of life, what they need, the voices are ones of which he new and people he didnt who are trying to help this person through.
"I'm suddenly an empty house" This makes me think that the person has become an empty home to feelings they dont have, but its fillied with hope that one day they will have a sence of belonging.
Roddy's voice....yum......so well suited to the song.

General CommentSometimes this song sounds Christian and anthemic. Listen to the chorus. As ever, I have no idea what the verses mean but they give a sense.
